Hi there,

I know that if the petitioner claims benefits it can cause the K1 to be denied, but I was wondering if anyone here had any experience regarding Medi-Cal health insurance in California and whether this would cause a problem.

My USC Fiancee does not claim any kind of benefits, but was thinking about applying for Medi-cal. Would this be bad idea?

Cheers!

no, not for him. his the USC so he could apply.

ONLY the immigrant CANNOT apply. because his/her petitioner might pay for those benefits.

goodluck!!!

It has been the case however that people have been denied because the Petitioner claimed benefits in the US and - though they had a suitable co-sponsor.

Does anybody here know if Medi - Cal is seen as a benefit in this way and could have any adverse effect.

Want to be 100 percent sure before even considering to apply.
