Best way to Transfer/Exchange Money from the UK

Hi everyone,

My Fiance is selling his flat in the UK and we are curious as to the best way to transfer and exchange his funds into US currency. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there a way that is best to go about this?

I have an hsbc account in the UK and they opened me an account in the us before i lweft the uk. It costs 10GBP per transfer as opposed to a percentage, between thee two accounts. You also get a better exchange rate than on the high street at a buraux de change. Youcan also get an hsbc credit card by doing it through the hsbc in uk because they vouch for you, you will need a CC to build a credit history in the US for when you want to buy a home overr here.

Citi bank is another option. You might inquire about off shore banking aswell, as your selling a property you will have more money to move than i did.

I had the money from the sale of my house paid into my UK bank account and I then wrote myself a check on my UK account and paid it into my US account... it cleared withing 2 days and the charge was very small....
