Greetings,

I am a Canadian and my fiancee is American, we met at school last year.

I went to the USA to visit for a couple months in the summer, and she came for sometime to Canada this fall.

We were planning on doing a Justice of the Peace wedding this fall in late November, in the USA.

Then I would travel back to Canada just after Christmas and we would start the paper work process. I have a job in Canada that I will leave when the paperwork(green card) works out, I run a small business and its quite busy. I know that the whole paper work process takes time, and it will take me time to close my shop and transfer the customers to other shops in the area.

We thought why bother with the fiancee visa, it seemed like an added cost/time issue to both of us.

Has anyone else done this? and is it a good approach?

Also, can I travel to the USA while the visa application is being processed? for a week or two at a time?

Any input/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
