maybe she just can't believe that men would move to the other side of the world for love?!

She might do. Or maybe she just doesnt believe anyone would do it. Ask my mother. She thinks its mad! :bonk:

Yeah and today it was a South African laid back guy. Maybe she's just miffed because a South African beat Michael Phelps in the swimming.....joke-joke!! :P:D

She thinks she has the power to stop any guy that she likes the look of from leaving

Im impatiently awaiting a positive update from you Keeto!

Hi Holly,

Not too positive at mo.....

My wife and I gave notice today. We are awaiting the letting agents letter about us giving notice on the house and then I'll be sending off the letters to the embassy - hopefully tomorrow.

Both my wife and I know that the above mentioned "requirements" can be withdrawn but, £1200 worth of airline tickets cannot be refunded.

We both refuse to do this for the embassy and if we don't get approved with just the notice letters we WILL be taking this to a much higher level.

The embassy has contradicted itself on it's own T&C's and they are going to have to explain why if this goes wrong.

Youre right, what they have asked of you is way out of order. They even say not to make travel plans that cannot be changed for this very reason. If you had done that before your interview and the officer just decided to be in a bad mood, it would be completely wasted.

Im sure if somebody else looks at it this time, they will accept it straight away. You have everything they usually require and probably more by now.

Im glad youre willing to take it higher up if they dont issue your visa this time. They are not playing by their own rules. Ones that are made very clear all throughout the visa process. It WONT come to that though!

Well, to be fair, that person seems to have said they had given notice already...his wife already had a ticket booked as well....if you check my original post I told this CO that we hadn't given notice to anything - but that is once again due to the embassy instructions as per the website. B-)

Well, all we did today during the notice giving period was to inform our employers that we might have to withdraw our notices if this goes wrong...it's quite embarrassing to have to do it this way, but we don't have a choice right now.

Luckily my wife's employer is quite understanding....my one on the other hand was not really impressed with this request....so all we can do now is hope for the best.

Im sure it'll go fine for you :) I'll likely be saying the same to my landlord, just in case. Not that it will make much difference to them :bonk: They've been using a letterhead with an incorrect phone number on for years and they dont care! They write what theyre told if they get their rent on time  I had to ask my employer for proof that i worked there when i was getting the UK visa for my husband. He didnt like it so decided to ignore my calls and emails. I guess to them if it doesnt make their lives easier, they dont want to do it sometimes!

OK - just got the letter from the letting agent so all the doc's are ready to go tomorrow.

Just for information sharing sake - not a moan - the cost for the courier to just outside the M25 is £25.50 with no guarantee on collection time - "Between 08:00 and 18:00" was the answer I got.

Also you pay over the phone - adding this because the "friendly" CO I saw last Thursday didn't know how I would pay the courier.
