How long from Visa interview to Visa delivered? (London DCF)

Hope you all don't mind me asking and picking brains here!

I'm trying to find out (at least on the average) for folks who filed DCF at London, how long it took from the date of your interview to get your Visa (back, in your passport/delivered to you). Not sure if it makes a difference but we're filing an IR-1.

My OH and I are trying to figure out a timeline (we need to book our plane tickets, and space for the cats, as well as figuring out if I'll have time to renew my US passport before then, or if we would be better off trying to make it back ot the US before it expires on Jun 8th.) or if we're just better off trying to renew my passport now and leave later like the 20th of June.

Anyone know what forms of ID you need to present at the Embassy to get in? (It is very likely that my passport will be in processing at that time and not in my possession...which leaves me with my NY drivers license and a birth certificate as the only forms of id I have.)

I just wish I'd realized I needed to renew it sooner................:bonk:

I didn't do DCF bit I would imagine that once the visa is approved, the timeline is pretty similar for all spouse visas. I was told that my visa would be delivered in ten days to two weeks but mine arrived in two days. My interview was on a Tuesday morning and I had my visa by lunchtime on Thursday of the same week - delivered to my workplace.

Obviously the beneficiary has to have a valid passport with them but I am not sure about the USC. Hopefully someone else will chip in on that point.

We didnt do DCF either but i had my interview on the 23rd and my passport with my visa in it was deliverd to my door on the 29th. It would of probably been sooner but we had the weekend holding us back a few days. I was also told it would take 7-10 days to recieve it back but luckily it didnt. If you give them your mobile number on the delivery form at the embassy then they should text you the day before it is deliverd (which would give you time to change flights if you did what we did and decided to book tickets and just pray it would come in time lol)

In regards to ID then im not sure what is needed, your best to call the million pound a min hotline for the Embassy and ask them, they are expensive but very helpful! Also just a tip if you do call either call first thing in the morning or around 4pm in the afternoon as they were the only times i could get through to someone without being cut off.

Best of luck!

Thank you both for your input :)

I was going to try to book our tickets home for the same month, but because of some of the uncertainty I decided to book them for the next month (plus, well, we could use the extra time to pack up a few more things, right?)

:)

Now I just need to get past my flying anxiety!

Just in case anyone else needs to know, I just got off the phone with the embassy in London (that expensive number) and was told that my NY Drivers license would be acceptable as it is 1) photographic id, and 2) current and not expired.

So fingers crossed they'll still say that when I get there with my husband!
