Hello!

I am sponsoring my wife, and we just received a request for intitial evidence for the I-864 (asking for my W-2, which I know I had submitted but that's beside the point). The question I have is the following:

- In question 25 (last year's total individual income) I realized that by accident we used my salary, instead of the total income in the 1040. However, since last year we filed taxes jointly for the first time, should I also send an updated I-864 with: a) my income as listed on my W-2, or b) our total income, as listed on the 1040, line 22? The wording on question 25 is throwing me off and the instructions are not helpful. We have not submitted an I-864A because we were not using my wife's income to support the application.

Thank you for yoru help!

I should also add that both me and my wife live and work in the US (she is here under a J-1 visa (exempt for the 2-year rule). SHould I even bother with sending an updated I-864? You would think that if there was an issue with that, they would have included it in the RFE letter, since they already had a chance to review the I-864 along with the 1040.

Sorry for the multiple posts, but it does not let me edit them, and I thought of another question: If I do decide to send an updated I-864, do I need to send a new employer letter as well? Would it suffice to say in the package cover letter that there have been no changes to the current annual income and thus the letter included in the original application is still valid?
