I sent my RFE in April 2010 and so far no response. I called USCIS customer service a while ago and was instructed to wait 45 days before contacting them. I called USCIS again today -10/18/2010 and was given an email address to email VSC directly to request a response.

I do not have a lawyer and cannot afford one at this time. Do you think it's a good idea to email VSC requesting a reponse without a lawyer or should I wait?

Please any suggestions.

yes this good idea to e-mail .they will response you in 72 hours they response me next day.
