Man charged with murder of son, 12

A MAN is behind bars after the stabbing murder of his 12-year-old son in Sydney's southwest.

The 30-year-old man was arrested at a block of flats in in Liverpool at about 4.45pm (AEDT) yesterday after police received reports of a stabbing.

Police found the body of his 12-year-old son at the flat and seized a knife.

Two men aged 26 and 50 were also found with stab wounds and taken to Liverpool Hospital where they are in a serious but stable condition.

The man was taken to Liverpool Police Station and questioned by detectives throughout the night.

He was charged this morning with murder, attempted murder and malicious wounding, police say.

He appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday and was refused bail.

He will appear at Parramatta Local Court via videolink on November 18.

Meanwhile, police expect to remain at the unit block for most of the day while detectives and forensic experts continue to examine the crime scene.

A number of local residents have already been interviewed but police are urging anyone else with information to contact them via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
