Hi guys,

Sorry I just signed up, but I'll have all my dates and things on for you soon...

So, I visited Knightsbridge Doctors today for my Visa medical. The medical itself went fine though the doctor raised the issue of a conviction I got when I was 15. She was very understanding and said that it was purely protocol to 'cover their asses' but I must have a complete psychiatric assessment.

She suggested I go to somewhere called Capio Nightingale, though when I spoke to them I was told it would cost me £300 an hour and was likely to last for more than one. I am exploring my options at the moment looking for more reasonable places and even seeing if I can get it done on the NHS via a referral from my GP.

I was just wondering if anyone else had encountered this problem, how it went, and if you know of anywhere more reasonable.

Cheers,

Phil

It's common for them to refer you to someone that they know, who will be very expensive. See if you can get a referral from your GP so the NHS will cover it. SOMETIMES they will refuse to do it on NHS if they know it's for immigration purposes, but many will be understanding if you just ask nicely and explain the situation. Be sure you have a written letter as to what you'll need them to say so they are sure to send back all of the info Knightsbridge needs.

You might also look into the UK forum in the Regional subforums. There is a lot of useful info there. (And some not-so-useful, but fun!)

Good luck to you!
