yea ... as if the tourists stopped visiting the US after Katrina ... Gloria ... Ivan ... Rita ... Rapid City Flood ... Johnstown ... Loma Prieta earthquake 1989 ... Kern County earthquake 1952

Thailand wanted tourists after the Tsunami.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Here is why I have an issue with this.. First, there are scores of rotting bodies under the rubble which will make disease rampant.. Any responsible tour company would not drop their customers off in a disease hotspot. If their mission was really humanitarian, then they should have docked their ship without tourists on board. Second, it is unfair to the survivors to have tourists compete for basic items like food and water which is extremely scarce there.. Third, most of the tourist onboard are there for some R&R, and going to some place which is ravaged by an earthquake is anything but R&R.

The ship isn't stopping in Port Au Prince, its 100 miles away from the disaster area.

They aren't going to be exposed to disease or compete with anyone for essential supplies.

The tourists don't have to get off the boat either, and cruise ships stop at these places for what, 1 or 2 days at most?

I think its great they are taking people there...if people dont want to go there then book another cruise. Same for the Cougar Cruise...if you find it distasteful...dont go on the cruise. It amazes me how ignorant people are and they always need something to ###### about. Makes you almost want to say "grow up, get a life and mind ur own damn business".
