Wow! That sucks. My little cottage in the woods only costs me around $1K in property taxes. Plus, no wise guys, just hippies, assorted fruits and nuts, and other fauna. I know folks that own property in Texas, and their property taxes suck big time as well.

At least in Texas you know why the property taxes suck, there are few other sources of revenue. They don't have a state income tax, do they?

In Jersey, they're just high. No one quite knows why.

California has such a progressive income tax, that the real rates don't kick in until you are making well over $100,000 in net income. That's one of the reasons we have so many out of state "commuters".
