I have an old O2 phone that I brought with me to the states that has a SIM card.

I still use this to text folks back home. Problem is that the battery is failing to hold its charge and the battery is built into the phone so its impossible to buy a new battery.

Does anyone know if there is a phone (a simple inexpensive phone) that I can use with my O2 sim card? I do not need to make calls with the phone just simple send and receive texts.

Thanks

Hi broma! I'm pretty sure any AT&T or T-Mobile phone that you can put a SIM card into will work, as I have done this myself with O2, Orange and Virgin Mobile SIMs from the UK. As long as it is GSM you should be fine. Why not look for an unlocked GSM phone on Ebay? Here's one for example -- nothing fancy indeed but all the parts are there. http://cgi.ebay.com/Nokia-3390-T-Mobile-un...1QQcmdZViewItem

If you decide to buy off Ebay, you can limit your search to GSM phones only, as well as require a camera. There are drop-down boxes on the left hand side (the GSM can be selected under "Technology") that you can use. If you click this link, I think this should take you through to what you want: GSM phones without contract with camera under $40

I put in the camera for 1-2Megapixels, but this can be changed too. Just make sure you get an unlocked one!
