So we had our interview this morning, and all quite pleasant.

Scheduled for 8:30am, we arrived at 8:00am, breezed through security and check-in and waited for about 20 mins.

The building is brand new and all one level, so very welcoming - the waiting area is comfortable.

We were called in and taken to a regular office. We sat opposite the interviewer and he swore us in. He took copies of our drivers licenses and then came back into the office and he started looking through the file.

First thing he did was to ask my wife (petitioner) questions from the I-130 - just verifying information. He then asked me if I knew my wife's birthdate, and asked her the same about me.

He then went through the I-485 and verified my information, asking me and my wife about the company I work for, how we met, when I arrived in the US etc... He definitely didn't seem that interested in the answers to the questions but more our interaction and the way we responded.

As he went through the file I could see things like the I-693 envelope etc....

Then he asked for our current lease so I started to offer him all of my evidence. He didn't actually ask for anything but I gave him originals of mail to the address for both of us, joint bank accounts. He then asked a specific question from our lease asking what utilities are included in our rent. I also gave him a copy of our latest tax return, 2008.

Again, he never asked for any evidence in particular, but I gave him what I had.

He then went through our photo albums (we had one general album of us that had pictures before we were married and he wanted to see that first). He asked a few questions along the way, like where photos were taken, who people in the photos were and verified with both of us. He also asked if we have any tattoos, we both do, and where they are on our bodies.

He then looked at our wedding album and asked a few more questions about who people were.

After that, he took my I-94 and put it in a plastic bag with my loose photos in my file.

He then explained the process to us after this, that he would review the file in the afternoon after he finished with his interviews and if approved we would receive a letter in a week and the card in up to 6 weeks. He then said that if I needed to I could bring the letter in at any time and get my passport stamped. He also explained how to get a new social security card to remove the "work authorization" clause.

He then wrote on a little piece of paper "looks good" - showed it to both of us and put it at the very front of the file.

That was it, took about 20-25mins in total.
