okay, I'm posting here.....:::looks for sharks:::::::

when a person goes to inquire about obtaining a U.S. visitors visa (or any visa) at the (foreign) embassy and they are told one requirement is to have a "substantial amount" of money in their acccount (to compel them to return back home) and they inquire further as to what exactly is a "substantial amount" and they are once again told,

"I dunno, you just have to have a substantial amount of money in your account now leave!"

how is one suppose to meet the requirements if the requirements are so VAGUE????

http://www.path2usa.com/immigration/visitorvisa/faq.htm

on this website^^^^^ towards the bottom of the page, it states

"there are no RULES for any minimum balance requirement for your bank account"

can anyone shed some light?

I thank you all for your responsible answers.

It's subjective. They won't quantify it because they can't. The CO will look at the applicants life situation and decide what amount is substantive enough to make him/her believe the applicant will return home.

thank you for confirming what I THOUGHT was their method of making determinations, but could not directly prove.
