HI there,

I really need some advice. I currently have a 2 year green card which expires in November 2008. I was married in NEW YORK CITY in November 2005 in good faith - I really loved him and he did too. However, we had our issues and couldnt work through them, we signed the divorce papers in February 2007. S o we were only married on paper for 1 year and 4 months. As I had nothing left for me I came back to London and have been living here ever since.

My questions are as follows:

1. Is there any point in filing for a waiver for the I-751 form as I now live and work in the UK? Is there a chance that I could get ten year green card or is that fact that I now officially live in the UK mean that there is no chance at all?

2. If i dont file what are the consequences of this? I guess I would lose the green card but would I be allowed to travel to the United States on a tourist visa after that? Or will this be problematic?

3. If not doing anything will cause problems - who would I need to contact and how would I go about doing this?

4. I am planning to travel to NYC in a couple of months. I havent been back since October 2007. That would mean that i would have been out of the country for more than 6 months. I was told that if you stay out of the States for longer than this period of time and you have a provisional green card its as if it expired anyway. Is this true?

5. RE 4. If i now travel to the US and provisional green card is seen as expired do i need to travel like a tourist and/or will this cause problems with immigration?

So many questions..but i am a little scared that because of this that travelling to and from USA will become problematic. Hope somebody can help me.
