Embassy Review : Arrived at the Embassy just after 7.30 for 8am appointment time. Waited in line outside for just 15 minutes before being let through security and into the building. Was given a ticket number and went to wait in the waiting area. It wasn't at all like I imagined, actually thought it was fairly relaxed! I was 2nd in line for immigrant visas out of I think a total of 8. THere were nearer to 100 non-immigrant visas being processed that day.

i got called up after only 15 mins and gave in my paperwork. He asked for my birth certificate and copy and police certificate and copy, then for the affidavit and tax returns. I had 2 tax returns from Luke but not for 2007 so he asked if I had that or anything else. I gave him a letter from his employer and from his bank. While he was looking at those I also mentioned that I have savings too. He asked how much and i told himm and said I had a bank statement with me if he wanted it. He said "yes, because this isn't enough"... I didn't know whether he meant luke didn't earn enough or he didn't have enough evidence. We had checked before that Luke earns enough and he is comfotbly over the threshold and we provided enough things off the embassy affidavit list, so I was a little worried but so glad I had thought to take my bank statement as an extra. So yeah, take whatever extra evidence you can even if you have the minimum they require coz you never know...

Anyway, he then sent me to pay the fees and after, gave me the courier slip and said to wait again. I thought i would have a long wait as that's what many others experience but i was called up again after only 15 mins or so. Again, I seem to have had a different experience to many. While others were only asked 3 simple questions, I was asked about 13!! (And my case was really straightforward, no RFE's or anything..) I was asked when we met, how long we'd been engaged, what he does for a living, how long he's had the job, what I will do when I get to US, what I plan on doing when EA granted, who's going with me to US, how many times I've been to US, how many times I have been to visit Luke, whether our parents have met and so on...! Phew! Anyway after all this he said that wraps things up and welcomed me to America!

All in all, a very pleasant experience. The staff were friendly and polite. I didn't have to wait long, I was in and out of the Embassy by 9.15am!! And I was granted my visa!!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
