Comments : I entered through Austin Airport as a POE, travelling on Norwegian Airlines. At Austin, you get your bags before Immigration processing, and the only thing you do beforehand is go to the automated terminals and fill in some details. I had no idea whether 'getting married' counts as, so I selected exceptions, and was directed by an official to go to Line 3 after collecting my bags (typically, Austin is weird like that).

It took about 30 mins to get my bags (because I had checked in so early), and after that I queued in Line 3 - I was seen within a minute. I was asked what my visa was, whether I had my packet and was fingerprinted. I was then directed to a waiting area (along with another K visa family and a lady who had misplaced her green card). The staff were pleasant and polite, and we were reassured several times that "someone will be right with you" with a smile.

I was seen last, so I waited about 30 minutes before I was called up (two agents were on duty). I passed along my visa packet, and the officials were pleasant and professional. One joked it wasn't too late to change my mind, and the other joked that he was just bitter because he had been married a long time. They asked me a couple of casual questions about the date of the wedding and about my fiancee. They stamped my passport and passed it back, advised me that I could go to the immigration centre in my area to get a work permit in a couple of days, and sent me on my way.

Overall, the experience was nowhere near as intense as I thought it was going to be. This was helped by the fact that the staff were so efficient and pleasant.

Consulate Review: London, United Kingdom
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 13, 2018
Embassy Review : I arrived at the front gate for the appointment, and the two people scanning the tickets were very nice. I then went through security - I was slightly worried about my key fob but it was no problem. I then queued for a second time inside the embassy foyer - the only had one person checking and putting on the appointment stickers, but she was efficient and I was on my way within 10 minutes. I followed the instructions: up the lift, out and turn left, and all the way along to get to the K1 visa zone.

There was one other guy being processed in front of me, and after he sat down again I was up to give my documents to the first cashier. He was cordial and polite, and after taking my prints and documents I was sat back down. He gave me a copy of my medical on disk, in an unsealed envelope. 10 more minutes passed and I was called up to the window. The official was very professional and went through my documents again, whilst asking me some casual questions about where we had met, when we intended to get married etc. He was friendly and polite, and after taking my prints again announced he had approved the visa! I then left the way I came in, leaving my passport with them with a big smile on my face.

TL;DR: In and out within an hour, fast, friendly and polite.
Rating : Very Good

Please is it allowed to travel with or book one way freight when it K1 visas

To the best of my knowledge, yes. As long as you have the visa and that's what you're using to travel into the US, that should be fine. Mine was a one way flight in.

I recommend the guides on this website! I can't really remember much, other than be honest and bring all your documents. They may ask you if you have any plans for the marriage and how you met etc.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
