I had my interview today and I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. My appointment was at 8am and I arrived at 6:50am to find that there were already people waiting. At 7:30am the employees came to set up outside and we were soon being called up to have our passports and appointment letters checked. Onto a secondary check prior to security and the gentle man wanted to see the DS160 too. After passing through security, I followed the signs to get round the side of the building and into the visa section. There my appointment letter was checked again and I was given a number: I903 - which meant I was 3rd to be interviewed for an Immigrant Visa today.
My number was called at 8:15am and when I got to the window was met by a lovely lady who asked for: My passport, passport photo, original birth cert, proof of payment for DS160 and courier, and the Affidavit of support form. That's it! I was almost miffed at that because I was so stressed trying to collate all the information they had asked for. Never mind then I had my fingerprints scanned and went to sit down before being called up for my interview.
50 mins later, my number was called again and I went to the same window to find a different but also very nice lady. She swore me in, asked how and when we met, what my fiance does for a living, if I've met his family and whether I have been to visit, and that was it. Over in less than 3 minutes. She smiled and told me my visa was approved. I was so overwhelmed I had to fight back the tears.
It really was such a smooth and easy process. Nothing to worry about at all.
Good luck guys!! |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
