Although it's small, security is way tight and a bit intimidating. There is a long line to get through the barriers, but if you are American, just show your passport and they will let you through. You have to submit your passport to the window outside before they will allow you inside. They will give you a form to fill out that states your purpose for visiting . Once inside, you pass through the security. You cannot leave the security area until you mark the purpose of your visit on the form or they say so. It's confusing too, because there are no signs to say Immigration/ACS/Non-Immigration once you leave the security area and enter into the next building. When you get through the big doors in the next building, you are faced with the Cashier( I guess they want you to pay first? :blush: ). I got all turned around and had to ask the Cashier where to go.  Once inside at the ACS window, they kept me standing for several minutes before the person came to the window. They can see you waiting, but they have to discuss the weather first? :huh: The person that spoke to me informed me to pay before I could get the document I needed, even though I told her I didn't. She insisted and I told her to check. Yep, I don't need to pay. But, I still needed to go to the cashier's and get a receipt that I didn't pay... :unsure:
After a couple of minutes, I hear my name over the loud speaker, but they don't tell me which window, so I'm lost. I eventually find the window, and the Vice-Consul General has me pick up the interphone, because he can't hear me through the plexi-glass...Yikes!!! Okay, now I'm swearing an oath like I am in jail talking to my jailkeeper. Since I was getting the Affidavit of Eligibility to Marry, every other word out of his mouth was you need to "be patient" to get married in Morocco because the process takes time. Yep, I understand. I suppose he wouldt offer the same advice if I was applying for my "fiance's" visa to the US :lol:
Overall, my experience was average. They were efficient in getting me the documentI needed, but not forthcoming with information. I felt very uncomfortable, and I am the one not immigrating. :blink:
Note: This is not my first visit to a US consulate, but the first to this specific consulate.
