Review Topic: K1 Visa

Our interview was Thursday August 12. My fiance and I arrived at the embassy around 6:30 am. I knew we had to get in line 3 from reading reviews from the website, so that's what we did. While we were in line we began hearing a lady through a speakerphone explaining the line process. After that we got green stickers i guess green stickers are for k1 visas. we were asked to show the appointment letter and passport, I showed my passport as well. A Domesa representative gave us a form to fill out. We were told to go to section 40. there was a lady in a booth with folders (very nice lady). she explained to us that inside the folder was a checklist of the things we had to put inside. We sat down to organize everything and then we had to go back to the lady in the booth and she checked the folder and told us to proceed to the section by Domesa window 30,31,32 (i think those were the windows). a lady there called my fiance to window 31, she was colombian (a little rude)we thought that was the window for the final interview but it wasn't. she only checks your documents and might ask 2 or 3 questions. there you don't have to go to the window with your fiance unless they ask you to. Even if you are missing something she makes you proceed to the section where they have the actual interview, so be aware of that. We went to the section for k1 interviews, which are windows 1-6. He got his finger prints and then we waited and waited. It is the worst feeling. You are constantly looking at the windows, thinking your name will be up. It was really sad to see people being turned down mostly because of missing documents. I noticed that a lot of people were there without their fiance and were getting approved regardless. My fiance got called and the interview began. the lady (very nice person)asked him 4 questions, who i was, my name, where we met, if he has family in the US and where, where i live, where he worked, and then asked to speak to me, she asked me in english about our relationship, how we met, if he had any children (he does)her name, age, about my trips to colombia. Everything they ask you is based on what you wrote to the applications so look at your applications and make sure you answer exactly that. I had co-sponser but she told me i did not need one, which was a surprise to me because i have only been working for 6 months and last year i was unemployed but i do make over the poverty line. she returned my co-sponser's documents. She did not asked me for any evidence, she actually returned pictures from when i sent the 1-29f application. She said everything was perfect except one thing. I thought i was going to die at that moment, she said that the DAS certificate came back good except that my fiance's middle name had a mispell. It wanted to die, i could not believe it. She said she could not give me tha visa at that time because they can't accept documents with errors but that she would give me a pink slip to come back the following day with the corrected document. We made the correction, went back Friday the 13th at 10am, we checked in window 1 and ten minutes later we was called and was told visa was approved. We went to pay and thank God everything was over. My advice check your documents for any mispells, thay look at all that. The embassy was organized and the consulate lady was very nice. Just have everything in order and all the paperwork they ask for and you'll get approved.
