Our (myself and hubby) experience at the initial phase was consistent with that of other reviewers so I will cut straight to inside the embassy. We were called to window 7 initially where a woman checked off our items and gave us back some original documents which we were quite surprised at. She also asked who filed for me to which i responded with hubby's name.

We went back to sit but the room was full so we stood to the side near the bathroom, chit chatting. I was half paying attention to what was going on around us. The gentleman by the name of rohan (if i remember correctly) was coming by cracking jokes trying to break the tension (which he was successful at). About 20 - 30 mins after we were standing on the side they started interviewing ppl. When one big family got up we sat down and continued chatting. I was sitting to the back and the interviewers were speaking softly for the most part so I could hardly hear some of the interviews. However I saw one couple get delayed because of something concerning their co-sponsor. There was a white woman and a black man doing interviews. We got called up about 15 mins after by the black gentleman.

He was polite but he asked alot of questions. These are what I remember:
1. Who are we (what is our relationship)
2. How long have we known each other
3. How long have we been married
4. Do we have kids
5. Have I ever been arrested
6. Have I ever been to the US
7. He asked for my old passport with my visitors visa. I explained it was stolen and showed him the acknowledgment from the embassy that it was stolen.
8. Phone records
9. Western union reciepts

I can't quite remember the other questions. But meanwhile he was giving me the DS230 to sign. I eventually saw him staple my passport to the file and give me the DHL reciept. He mumbled something under his breath which neither hubby nor i heard and told us to go pay dhl........so we took that as an approval. what's funny is i didn't hear but assumed hubby heard and hubby didn't hear and assumed i did. so while we're walking up to dhl i ask him if he heard what he said and he said no i thought you did so we were like i guess we're approved
