We arrived at the US Embassy by 7 and we were let in by 715. Our number was called and we went to the window with a very nice Egyptian woman. She explained to us that our petition did not arrive however we need to fill our paperwork so that they can conduct the interview. We did the paperwork and they called Hamdi to do his fingerprints. Then we were called to the window for the interview. She was a very nice American woman. She said this was very hard to do the interview without the paperwork from NVC, however she asked many questions. Where did you meet your wife? Did you have a wedding? Was your wife married before? What do you have in common with your wife? Does she have family? In the end she said we have to wait fo the paperwork to arrive and asked about the civil marriage certificate. We married at the time the embassy did not give out the paper for "free to marry" so we had to go through the lawyer and have it approved by the Egyptian court system. She had never seen that certificate before so she sent us to the US citizen side after the interview. The woman in this department said she would contact them about the case and if they needed anything else they would call. I sent them an email today asking when we will need to send in Hamdi's passport to the embassy and if there was anything else we need to do while I am still in Egypt. They were going to keep his passport, but without all the paperwork being at the embassy she said we would need to send it by DHL
I am happy they did the interview they could have rescheduled us but I think me being in Egypt helped the situation.
