I had my visa appointment November 17th @9:15am. It was very easy and everyone there was really nice. It was quite nerve wracking so I’ll give as much information as I can remember for those like me who get super nervous.
Firstly, the location of the embassy is kind of tricky to locate because there are no signs, however, once you locate RBC bank the embassy is the door right next to the bank. It is directly across the street from aritzia/little burgundy.
Once I located it I didn’t have to wait in line at all I was able to walk right in then they opened the door to security and let me right in. I put my phone in the locker and all of my stuff through airport like security. They also gave me two slips in my passport with my number on it. I was able to bring my plastic water bottle in with me. After this I took the elevator up to floor one which exits directly into the room you’ll be waiting in. The room is almost like the same type of room as one where you would go to renew your passport.
As soon as I walked in I sat down, I made sure I had a good view of the screen as this is where your number shows up telling you which table to go to. I barely waited during this part because as soon as I sat down my number came up and I went to the appropriately numbered desk. Here a nice man asked who my petitioner is, what his address is and what my address will be once I am in the US. He asked for my passport, slip with my number on it, marriage certificate, birth certificate, police certificate, 1 passport photo of me and my husbands 2022 tax returns. I let him know I uploaded a new I-864 due to my husbands new job and he did not need it physically because it had been uploaded. I also told him I had moved and he passed me a sticky note to write down the new address and than he updated it for me. And that was it!
I then went back to my seat and waited for about an hour (maybe just shy of). I then got called to a desk which is where my interview began. The lady interviewing me was super nice and the questions I can remember her asking me were: Who is your petitioner?, What is his address?, What does he do for work?, When, where, how did you meet?, When did you start dating?, When was your wedding and what was it like?, Did you read the domestic violence pamphlet and do you have any questions regarding it? This took about a total of 5-10 minutes and then she let me know she’d be approving my visa and handed me a paper with information on how to track my passport and then I left!
Overall, it went pretty smooth and everyone was really kind! I hope you all have similar experiences
