Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Due to reading others experiences prior to our interview appointment we arrived at 7:00am for our 8:30 appointment. We mentioned that we’re here for an immigrant visa and was ushered straight in. A man sorted our papers. He asked for both of our original birth certificates, our marriage certificate, her police report, my original divorce decree, her passport and four photos. Translated documents were not taken. He put green dots with IV on both of us. Then when inside a woman sorted through our papers again and assigned us to a window. After a short wait we were called to the window where the woman returned my birth certificate and our marriage certificate. She said that it wasn’t necessary. Then we were assigned a number and sent to wait for another window near the coffee shop. We ordered two cups of coffee and waited. After another short wait we went up to the window for our interview. My wife talked to a man. He asked her what I did for work and if I speak Spanish. That was it. He told my wife that we had been approved. Not even 5 minuets. I actually thought something was wrong and that we had been denied. I’m not sure if this had anything to do with it but the interviewer had seen us interacting in the coffee shop as he bought a cup. We’re ecstatic.
