I arrived at the Consulate at 6:57am. There was only one other person in line.

The doors opened at 7:30am. First you need to show the receptionist (right at the entrance) your Loomis number and your passport. Next you go through an airport-style security check. You must give up all electronics (such as cellphones) at this point. Don't worry, they give you a ticket with a number on it and your devices will be safe upon your return. After this you go downstairs and wait.

At 8:00am they open the elevators and tell you to go to the 19th floor. Once there, head straight to the "Visa Reception" desk right in front of the elevator, you can't miss it. The person behind the desk (if no one is there, don't worry, they will be eventually) will give you a number. Remember to specify you are there for a Fiance Visa!

After some waiting (not much at all, less than 10-15 minutes) you will get called to one of the desks. At this point they pretty much take all your documents from you in no specific order. I cannot specify which ones exactly because it depends on the person behind the desk a little bit. (Ex: they did not take my DS-160 confirmation, but they took the next couple's). They will take your digital fingerprints now, and your number card. DO NOT FORGET YOUR NUMBER!

Then you wait again…

Not for too long.

When you get called up this time you go to a different desk where a very nice person (a lady in my case) will ask you some questions. They will also give back your birth certificate at this point.

I was specifically asked:
1) How long have you been dating?
2) How did you meet?
3) What does he do?
4) What do you do? (I just graduated from university and am thus unemployed so she also asked me what my degree was in).

At this point, without any warning, the lady behind the desk gave me a letter while telling me my visa was approved. She specified it would take 1-1.5 weeks for my visa to arrive at my specified Loomis centre.

All in all it was a good experience. Everyone was really nice, and I was able to make light jokes with everyone. They were all very pleasant.

My advice:
- have all your documents ready
- you can never have too many documents, only too little
- business casual attire seems to illicit the best response
- be calm, cool, and collected … they won't ask you anything you don't know the answer to.
