The interview was scheduled for 11:30am, we got there around 11:20, and was called around 11:50am. The interview took less than 15 min! The officer was really nice, when we got to her office she asked if we expect attorney to come - we said no, she told us that she checked our case yesterday and asked only general questions such as parents' name, DOB, where was born, how long we live together (for both of us), those type of questions that husband and wife wouldn't struggle to answer. Initially, we submitted a lot of supporting materials - may be that's why the officer didn't ask as many questions. She also made some changes to the application where it was necessary. Then, she went through yes-no questions on I-485, and never asked anything about financial part of the application considering that I am no longer working (I started my PhD), and most of the income was from my previous work.
At the end the officer asked if we have any questions - I asked something regarding removal of conditions to get an idea if we were approved or what; she didn't take my I-94 from the passport that's why I was concerned what's going on. She said that all the paperwork was very organized and asked if I want to work for them since they need such organized people there
We were prepared for the worst, but the interview went so smooth and fast that we were kind of confused where we went out of the building. Again, it is better to be over prepared than not!Same day around 5 pm we received e-mail notifications that I-130 was approved and status for I-485 changed to the "decision" step. Exactly a week after I received my green card in the mail!!
