  1. Just a quick addendum - I'm making this post because the most recent thing I can find in search appears to be both before the electronic filing, and before forms were updated. I'm asking to ensure this hasn't changed any
  2. Is there any particular protocol I need to follow or any way I need to "let the USCIS" know about any short travel outside of the US AFTER I have filed for citizenship? I ask because the forms ask me to list any and all travel outside of the US. I filed electronically as well. I may need to make a trip in to Canada for a couple of days so I don't know whether that's something I absolutely can't do or whether I have to let them know in a particular way? - I filed electronically so I didn't know if that changed things as well

    N-400 May-2018 Filers

Just got biometrics notification this morning. No letter in the portal yet like others. As soon as I see that letter I'll add the date in. Hoping for an early walk in as my father is in town.
  5. Hey so I went through a similar thing. I came here on a K1 and not long after I had applied for removal of conditions my ex wife decided she wanted to leave. It was all legitimate. The only possible way she could have sabotaged me is if she had believed I came to the US for the sole purpose of attaining a green card. However it would be incredibly difficult to prove that considering we had many many records it was not only a genuine marriage but also one we tried to rescue and had the counselling records to prove it. I highly doubt you will have a problem.
  6. Well, I've been here for nearly six years and I still occasionally get my brain thinking the 'old' way. I snap out of it in a second and it's never been when I'm behind the wheel but it does still happen from time to time. Getting used to driving in the US was a short lived, terrifying few hours. I had dropped my then fiancee (now ex wife) off at work and drove back to the hotel. I was shaking. The two miles of driving between her office and the hotel felt more like 200. My brain was on fire, my eyes darting everywhere and I gripped the steering wheel so tight I think I left a permanent impression. I pulled in to the parking lot and sobbed. I was, in a word, exhausted. BUT, I did sit there and make a decision; either go in to the hotel, or force myself to drive somewhere further away because I was going to have to do it at some point. So, like the big blubbering manchild I was, I plotted a route to a bestbuy that was a positively biblical 6.4 miles away. "Saddle up" I thought. As I nervously pulled out of the parking lot, the giant Buick roared as I pressed down on the pedal. This being a Buick meant that the roaring was in fact normal and I was actually only doing 10 mph while the poor car struggled to move... Through twists, turns, and a highway or two I eventually made it to the Best Buy parking lot, sitting the same way I did after I had driven back from my ex's place of employment, nervous, afraid, but slightly more comfortable as I had found the heated seat setting. I went inside and bought a $5 pair of headphones for no reason whatsoever. And when I came out... something clicked and I jumped in the car and drove off as though I had been born driving in the USA. My brain had reprogrammed and I proceeded to drive like anyone in Dallas drives: Like a drunk Steve McQueen with only a fraction of the accuracy

    Building credit

That's awesome! I know I'm late to the party but for anyone else looking in the future a secured card is the way to go and adding to your spouses is another. One thing I've learned almost six years on - The 'average length of credit history' matters way more than it should as far as US credit score and report goes. I wish I had tried to open more cards / loans in year one to help build that up

    Filing N400 online, anyone?

Applied this morning. The website is very nice, but also a little buggy. I ended up having to use a different computer to complete it as it just kept downloading a copy of my case on my original computer when I went to complete it. Cleared cookies, and the same thing happened. Then the payment site took 6 goes... LOL, it was DEFINITELY a nicer experience than filling out the form but the site is definitely a touch buggy!

Just filed online this morning - May 7th. Here we go!
  12. OK that made much more sense. Thanks. I guess it's just a bit of fear surrounding the application. It's now done. All online. All paid for. And now we wait....
  13. OK both of these answers contradict one another and I'm back to being confused.. I am not clear on how I am supposed to present a speeding ticket on my N400 This was a speeding ticket. It came with a fine. I completed deferred disposition and the charge was dismissed. Have you EVER committed, assisted in committing, or attempted to commit, a crime or offense for which you were NOT arrested? - Is this a yes? I was not arrested. I committed an 'offense', right? Have you EVER been arrested, cited, or detained by any law enforcement officer (including any immigration official or any official of the U.S. armed forces) for any reason? - Is this no? I was not arrested. Cited. Detained. Correct? Have you EVER been charged with committing, attempting to commit, or assisting in committing a crime or offense? - This is yes, correct? I was charged with committing an offense Have you EVER been convicted of a crime or offense? - Again, yes? I committed an offense. Speeding Have you EVER been placed in an alternative sentencing or a rehabilitative program (for example, diversion, deferred prosecution, withheld adjudication, deferred adjudication)? - Again, yes. Deferred prosecution, correct? All of this conflicts with both of those answers posted by others in the thread. Is this not correct?
