DS-230 form and the Selective Service

Hi everyone,

I have a question about DS-230 and the Selective Service
I first came to the United States as a F4 immigrant visa at the age of 25 years and 10 months. Before I obtained the immigrant visa, I completed the DS-230 form and signed it in front of the consular officer at the U.S embassy in Vietnam. At the bottom of the last page of the form, it states:
  • “I understand that completion of this form by persons required by law to register with the Selective Service System (males 18 through 25 years of age) constitutes such registration in accordance with the Military Selective Service Act.”
I believe the statement above mean after I signed, I would be automatically registered with the Selective Service.
However, I found out that I wasn’t in the Selective Service database when I filled out a Fafsa application for a first time. I tried to register immediately online but I couldn’t since I am over 26-year-old.
I am applying for financial aids at my university, what should I do now? I don't know how to explain with the Selective Service.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you.
