  • Our Story
When we started this process we thought it was going to be a little bit longer, Thank God it wasn't... We started this at the end of august and I got my visa in January 16th. after get the email from the embassy in November 21st, I filled the DS-160 online and by Dec 18th I was ready to pay and make the appointment, the first time it shows me the next available appt would be in 42 days, but I decided to check if all the information and case number were correct and it was, so I went back to make the appt and said there was no available appointments, of course I wanted to die, I tried and tried for the next half hour refreshing the web site every 5 min and still no available appointments, :( :( :(.. on Dec19th Robbie and I tried at work every 5 min and still no appointments, I decided to called the embassy, I had to make the payment first over the phone and then they said I had to wait untill january because they just have a few appointments per month, so payment was made, we just had to wait, but I decided to give one more try on Dec 20th, and it showed the Next available appointment was in 16 days!!! I enter the information of the payment and made the appointment for Jan 16th, unfortunately Robbie wasn't able to come here, he is actually coming in Feb 13th. with the appointment ready I called to the Dr. and made the appointment with Dr. Jairo Roa, you will need to pay COP $285.000 and have available in cash COP $260.000 for vaccines. I went on January 3rd and got my bloodwork done and the x-rays, I paid COP $150.000 and I needed a picture with my name in the back, I got there around 8am and half hour later I was ready to go, just a few people, 7 or 8, they asked for your case number, your passport and the Dr's name. and they sent the results and x-ray the same day in the afternoon.
After that I wait until Jan 9th and I had my Dr's appointment at 6:10pm but I had to be there at 5pm, you need all your vaccine records and be very patient, when you get there they asked your passport, a picture with your name in the back and all the records, and you have to seat and wait to be call. At 6pm the nurse said it was my turn, I have to wait like 5 minutes and then the doctor showed up, he did the rutine exam in 5 minutes and then check the vaccine records and said I need 3 vaccines, I said why? So he checked again and said, Actually you need two, varicella and the TDAP (La triple viral) I went back outside and show the other nurse the vaccines I needed, she told me how much it was COP $185.000, I had to wait more and then got my vaccines, after that you can go outside and wait around 45 minutes, after that the nurses started calling you and they will give you the sealed envelope with the results and the x-rays, they will give you instructions and give you a copy of your vaccine records with the ones you took with you. You must take to the embassy the sealed envelope with the medical exam results, the x-rays is just for the airport. You will be there for at least 3 hours, so be ready!

After that everything was ready, I had my appointment a week later and my visa was approved!!
