Hi, I am a Canadian Citizen and live in Manitoba, Canada with my wife, who is a US Citizen and Canadian Permanent Resident. We would like to move to the US. What is the best way of doing this? Can my wife file a petition (I-130) at a US Consulate in Canada (if so, which consulate and do you have to make an appointment or anything) Or do we need to mail in all of the paperwork. What type of Visa would we be applying for, i'm guessing its the IR-1. Any info or link would be great. We are starting the process and it all seems quite confusing

There is NO DFC in Canada. It was stopped years ago. You will have to file the I-130 in the USA as per the instructions.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I am a Citizen of the United States of America. 04/16/13

A good start is to read the guide on the I-130 process (to get an IR-1 or CR-1 visa depending on how long you’ve been married) at the guides link at the top of the page.

There is also a Canada Regional Forum here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/93-canada/ With Canada specific topics.

There is no DCF in Canada. You must file by mail.

Welcome to VJ :)

*sorry for the short answers - I am typing while on hold with the NVC (National Visa Center)*
