Hi all,

Here is the scenario ...

My Uncle(mother's elder brother) applied for I-130 long time back for my mother..

The first notification letter we got i guess 7-8 yrs ago ..

on that letter the priority date is July 05 2001

Now, i checked VISA bulletin at

http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_5019.html

where I can see they r processing files of 01JAN01

I don't understand much abt these dates . these r so confusing to me..

Can anyone actually tell me when my parents can expect VISA interview?

or actually what happens now?

I hope u guys can give me some good info on this ... I mean how these date thing works .. :-s

*Sorry for my bad english..

I imagine if you are checking out that category, your parents are from another country not mentioned in the other categories. Wehere are they from? That means they are working with petitions that have a prioriy date of Jan, 1 2001, and your parents have a priority date of July 5, 2001, they may be a few months for having their priority date current, depending on how the bulletin moves.

then NVC or National Visa Center will contact your uncle to start the second part of the process, payments and filling out forms and sending paperwork until the file is complete and will be sent to the American Consultate?Embassy in their country of origin. Then comes the interview through consular processing. It probably will take or could take more than a year still.

So u mean after visa number available(i guess which is when my mother case number will be present one in visa bulletin) .. it will take usually another year to get a visa interview date?

correct, that's what the visa bulletin is for. you have a waiting line and when the priority date becomes current, that means there is a visa available for everyone with those dates. between NVC contacting your uncle, the filing and completing the paperwork, sending the file to their country and then having the interview takes time.

Just a quick note on this one...

The NVC contacted me 'between 6-9mths before your priority date becomes current'... As a matter of fact my pd only became current on the July 2010 bulletin, and I was given my interview date on June 29 :)

I guess it depends when they envisage ur pd being current within 6-9mths? NVC snail mailed (and emailed) my petitioner to start the AOS and IV end of the process...

I really have to ask though... U only mentioning receiving one bit of paper... Did you ever get ur NOA2?
