Can't remember ex-wife's birthdate

Hi, I'm new to VJ, so I hope this has not already been asked and answered (I didn't see it in the forums).

What should I do if I cannot remember my ex-wife's birthdate? I have not had any contact with her in at least fifteen years, and I cannot remember what it is... I am almost ready to send my I-129F off, but this is holding it up... Can I put in my best guess?

Your ex-wife's birthday may or may not be listed on the Divorce documents. I know that birth dates of my husband's two ex-wives are not listed on their divorce documents. You will, however, need the Divorce document so if you do not have a certified copy any longer, arrange to get one - and send in copies, not the original with the application. You will need the original again and again throughout this process. Your fiancee will also need to bring the original/certified copy with her to the interview.

Can you remember any part of her birthdate? Do you remember in which month her birthday was? Was it Spring? Fall? Winter? Summer? Was it before yours or after yours? Was it near a holiday, like Thanksgiving or Christmas? That might help you remember the month. How much older or younger than you are was she? That will give you the year. If you have part of the birthdate you can write in what you can remember and put ?? for the rest. If you honestly have no idea any longer, then write in 'unknown - don't remember'. If you don't have the information and have no way of finding it out, then you just don't have the information.

Yes, I got a certified copy of the divorce decree (that I will be sure to send to my fiance), and I looked at all of the other pages while I was at the courthouse, but her birthdate was not on any of them. I honestly cannot remember any of the date (we were together for only a short time), so I have entered "Unknown"... Now I will send it all off and wait.

Just enter the date as best you can remember, it is not a material matter. Do you know the month and year? Enter the date as to "the best of your knowledge"

You can check at work in Human Resources where they have your personnel file. You may have it written on any life or health insurance forms. Maybe even you application for employment. You can also check with your past employers for the information. What about asking her parents, ex-in-laws, friends? Credit Union, old bank accounts, ???

Good Luck on finding it. Otherwise, just put down what you know or say I don't remember. If you are over 39 years old, then they should believe you. :-)

check the online records for the county you were married for a copy of the marriage cert. It should be on there...
