Congratulations. Did you expedite your case?
blank avatar Dura on 2021-04-10 said:
Thank you! I didn’t expedite the case.
blank avatar Yowi on 2021-04-10 said:
That's wonderful. When did they send you the email?
blank avatar Dura on 2021-04-10 said:
I got email for interview on April 8, 2021. I submitted everything to nvc on Jan 11 and documentarily qualified on January 20.

I'm sorry dear, on January 12, 2021?

You become documentarily qualified after 9 days of submitting everything?
blank avatar Dura on 2021-04-10 said:
Sorry let me clarify. My application went to nvc on 08/20/2020. I start submitting documents on November but I didn’t submit everything at once and there was files they want me to re-upload so there was back and forth with nvc. But everything was submitted on January 6. In between this they requested one document again on January 6. So it was submitted again around January 10/11, 2021. They sent me email for DQ on January 20. I hope that makes it clear.

That's very clear. Thank you and you are very lucky. To make sure, case sent to U.S consulate in Addis Ababa, correct?
blank avatar Dura on 2021-04-10 said:
Yes, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Thank you 🙏 It is is a long way but it will happen for sure. Good luck 🤞

Hey just wondering, do you have young kids or another reason the NVC might have prioritized your case without you requesting an expedite (like this is your second application after denial or something)? Just curious because CR1s that were DQ in second half of April 2020 for this embassy still haven't been scheduled for an interview, so I'm trying to figure out how they're sending cases to the embassy.
blank avatar Dura on 2021-04-10 said:
No young kids and it is not my second application. No errors or problems with my application overall. I think one reason could be my mom case was at nvc as well. And her case was DQ in Feb 15,2020. But due to the proclamation her case was put on hold. So I have two case at nvc for parent and spouse. And to my surprise their interview is the same day and time as well. I think they are killig two bird with one stone. Since many people are in-line waiting....they seem they are putting cases together. Hope that helps!
Katelyn_Wray on 2021-04-10 said:
Oh, yeah that does make more sense! Let us know if they actually interview them together? I'd be impressed with the thought for efficiency if that's what they end up doing! Good luck and congrats on coming to a close for both of your cases.
blank avatar Dura on 2021-04-10 said:
It seems efficient way instead of requesting interviews different date when hundred of thousand of people waiting. Hope they keep up with this as there are many waiting for their loved ones. I will definitely post updates in here! Thank you so much 😊 Good luck!!!
MoHanu on 2021-04-10 said:
I don't think that is reason. I am sponsoring my Mom and spouse. They both got DQ one April 10 2020 and spouse in May 11 2020 but still nothing.
blank avatar Dura on 2021-04-10 said:
My mom DQ is Feb 15, 2020 so if they are scheduling for people in that category...you are two month behind me so hopefully you will hear good news soon. It looks like current schedule is for people DQ in Feb 2020. Honestly I don’t think any other reason other than my mom case helping out as my spouse case was DQ on January 20, 2021.
MoHanu on 2021-04-10 said:
Ya you right actually if they are going by Date it's probably they picked your Mom's. If that is the case I would expect hers soon since someone got appointment from April 2020 DQ recently. Thanks for explaining it. How does it fell both getting the same date it's crazy right?
blank avatar Dura on 2021-04-10 said:
The same date and time which makes it all crazy. It is completely unexpected but hopefully this will give hope to others that nvc started working on cases as well as the consulate in Ethiopia. I am looking forward to their interview and we will see if they both going to have separate interview or not. Good luck 👍 and hopefully yours will get going as well! It looks like they are trying to catch up!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
