Comments : 5.21.15: Our NOA2 was taking longer than I anticipated, and longer than others who were approved who applied after us at the CSC. I never actually received an NOA1 notice mailed to us, just electronic confirmation of acceptance of receipt from the Dallas lockbox where I filed (which included the receipt number and notice our application was being sent to the CSC).

I decided to follow through on the advice of attorny Ilonna Bray in her useful book 'Fiance and Marriage Visas' by Nolo Press legal self-help press,(http://www.nolo.com/products/fiance-and-marriage-visas-imar.html) and followed the procedure to submit an online request about my case as it seemed beyond expected date of processing, and nothing was being updated on our filing on the USCIS page beyond the last date over a month ago.

I got a text and email notice this afternoon my inquiry was sent to an immigration officer, and just got a boiler plate response that our filing status was "under review." I didn't expect much more, but it indicated the paper NOA1 would be sent.

Then this evening, I got another notice it was approved! It seemed to have been stuck in the bureaucratic process hung up somewhere, but my inquiry seemed to have gotten it pushed through.

Comments : We were told in the interview we would receive a letter then my wife's green card about two weeks following that. We received an RFE a few days later asking for a local police record. During the biometrics appointment last March, my wife's fingerprints couldn't be scanned so they did with ink. That was sufficient for her employment authorization card as they were on it, but apparently not for a background check the last few months. It's a little frustrating we are asked for this post-interview, and not during the time leading up to it. We mailed this back last week and await further information. We received formal notice of approval of adjustment of status not long after.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
