Embassy Review : Hi guys!
So I had my K-1 Visa interview at the US embassy in Stockholm last week. My appointment was at 8.30 in the morning and I arrived at the embassy around 7.50. It was already plenty of people waiting for non immigration visas but it was only one person waiting in the other line. They opened at 8.00 and called me up almost right away. I walked up to the building where the security was and the officer asked me to show my passport through a window, then he asked me to show my purse and what I had inside, then he asked me to take one step back turn around and show the soles of my shoes. After that he let me inside and that´s where the security check is, it´s pretty much like at an Airport. The officer kept my keys and my phone (which I got back when I left the embassy). The officer then told me to follow the yellow line to the left and walk up towards the building. This was all in English.

When I got to the building Another officer told me to sit down and wait for my turn, he spoke English as well but after waiting there for a while I realized he was Swedish. Anyway, I sat down in the waiting room/seating area, which had airconditioning btw very much needed cause it was a very hot day. The room was kinda small, lots of chairs, 2 restrooms and plenty of windows where the interviews were held. At that time it was only me and Another K-1 applicant there.

I came there well prepared and organized and I´m happy I was since it made Everything easier. I put Everything they asked me to bring separated in plastic pockets with a cover, which turned out very Heavy cause I brought way too much stuff. But I thought that I´d rather bring too much than too Little. This is what I brought:
1. Interview appointment Confirmation with the barcode + I printed the reciept from my bank showing the transaction.
2. DS-160 Confirmation
3. Birth certificate- original with stamp and signature, in English with both my parents
4. Police certificate- original with stamp and signature, in english
5. I printed an e-mail from the embassy confirming that I didn´t need any documents fom the military since I never entered
6. I-134 + a printscreen showing how much money I have on my bank account
7. Proof of relationship;
- Flight tickets from 2014 when we met to November 2017 (when we sent in the application), then I separated the flight tickets from November- June to show we have an ongoing relationship. Organized Everything that way since I didn´t know if they only wanted to see proof of an ongoing relationship since we filed for the Visa November 2017, or Everything.
- Pictures from Instagram showing the date when posted + printscreens of our Viber phonecalls. I separated it by the year and put photos and Viber screenshots from 2015 in one plastic pocket with a cover letter "2015", and the same with 2016, 2017 and 2018. That way they could easily pick what they want to see.
- A few printscreens of our chats (Whatsapp, and yes we call on Viber and chat on Whatsapp - don´t ask me why )
- Printed e-mails between me and my mother in law

8. My resume in English- to show that I´m prepared and intend to get a job once I get a working permit.
9. Copy of the approved I-129F form + copy of the confirmation sent from NVC (with bar code)
10. IMBRA pamphlet

Need I say that I´ve never been more nervous in my Life!?! My hands were even shaking! The other K-1 Visa applicant was called up to window 7 Before I was, so I could hear what they were asking for and I felt more relaxed knowing what to expect. After maybe 15 minutes I was called up and Went to window number 7 where a very friendly woman waited for me. This was NOT the actual interview, she asked me around 10-15 questions about how I met my fiancé, if he proposed and when, she asked about his work, if either one´s been married before or have children, if I´ve ever lived in Another country and she also asked for documents and 2 passport Pictures. This was all in Swedish and she was very nice and I could tell she tried to make me feel more relaxed. She asked for the following doucuments 1, 2 ,3, 4, 6 and 7. She didn´t want all the Pictures, which I kinda new, she only picked a few from 2015 and 2018 as well as some printscreens from Viber. She thanked me for being so well prepared and told me to go back and sit down and wait to be called up for the actual interview.

At that Point the waiting room was packed with people applying for non immigrant visas.I sat down and waited for another 15-20 minutes Before I Heard my name in the speakers, which was kinda funny cause the American officer couldn´t pronounce my names. I walked up to Another window and the officer smiled at me, propably because of the trouble he had saying my name. He said good morning and made me take an oath and then my finger prints. The officer was Young and super relaxed, smiled a lot and it felt like the questions he asked was more out of curiousity and more like we had a conversation than an interview. I know other people´s been saying it as well, but it felt like they already decided what direction to go Before the interview. It wasn´t that many questions and the interview took about 5-10. The questions he asked were:

1. What´s your fiancés name?
2. When and how did you meet?
- Me: In 2013 at a festival in Spain where he asked me to dance.. (we started dating in 2014 though)
- Officer: Hmm OK, and laughed a Little bit.. (felt like he thought we did more than just dancing ha ha)
3. You´ve been doing long distance all these years?
- Me: Yes
4. How often were you able to visit eachother?
Me: I´ve been to the U.S about 10 times and he´s been to Sweden about 10 times and we´ve met up in other countries as well.
5. Wow, what kind of work does he have allowing him so much vacation?
6. How much vacation does he have?
7. Have you lived in any other country but Sweden?
8. Are you born in Sweden?
- Me: Yes
- Officer: It could be worse..
- Me: it can Always be worse (kinda funny cause that´s something me and my fiancé Always say and it made me smile)

He wrote on the computer for a bit..looked up at me.. said "soooo.. that´s it". He then said that obviously I passed but they hadn´t received the result from my medical yet but once they did I should receive the Visa within 10 Days. Words can´t express the feeling I felt at that Point, I wanted to cry, laugh, jump, scream at the same time! FINALLY!! I left the buildning same way I got in, except I had a big smile on my face, and wrote my fiancé a message (he was sleeping because of the time difference).. The whole experience at the embassy was very pleasant, everyone was very friendly, polite and proffessional. Looking back there´s absolutely no reason to be nervous, easy to say now I know...

I had my Medical July 17th on a tuesday and the interview on July 26th, 9 Days after the Medical. I checked my case at CEAC everyday and several times a day. After the interview the status changed to "Administrative processing" and the interview date. The status changed to "Ready" July 30th, then it changed back to "administrative processing" again on July 31st, and on August 1st it changed to "ISSUED"!! I had my Visa in the mail the day after!

I will finally see my fiancé in 2 weeks, after being apart for 3 months, and we´re getting married in less than 2 months. This whole process has been such an emotional rollercoaster but now it´s all Worth it!! He´s all Worth it

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
