    No Letter? Murky next steps?

Hi there! In a nutshell: application was approved October 11th, flash forward and case was sent from NVC to U.S. Embassy in London on November 28th. Its December 13th and we are apparently waiting on a letter that allows us to book the medical, and then the interview? This letter has still not arrived. Should we be concerned? Do we reach out to the embassy, or the NVC for the letter? The procedure is unclear as it says that we should start making all appointments, but that we need this letter (thats never come) to do so. A little lost - thanks for any guidance here!
  2. Hi Everyone! I'm filing K1 Fiance visa petition for my fiance in Mongolia. So far, NOA1 received 5/4/18, NOA2 Received 10/31/18, NVC case created 11/20/18, NVC shipped our case on 12/11/18, and US Embassy/Consulate has received the case on 12/17/18 via DHL Tracking. My question is how does she schedule the K1 Visa Interview with the US Consulate in Ulaanbaatar? When she tried to schedule the interview online on usatravel site, it only gave her an option to chose non-immigrant visa.. and there were no K1 option to select. We understand K1 is a non-immigrant but with intentions of an immigrant visa. She has already completed the DS-160 and has her confirmation page, She already finished the medical exam by the US Consulate approved physician, and already paid the $265 Visa fee and has the slip receipt in her hand. Question is, how does she schedule the interview? Will the US Consulate schedule one for her? We already e-mailed the US Consulate in Ulaanbaatar but hasn't received a response. Does anyone on here have knowledge/experience on how K1 interview works in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia? Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
  3. Hi everyone - am writing to get any insight or support you can give. Our Cr1 Interview for my husband was June 29th (Morocco), I was certain we had everything absolutely perfect...however the CO told my husband that they needed to verify our Marriage Certificate. We were married in the Seychelles because it a long and difficult process to get married in Morocco. The Seychelles is easy, visa free and a common place to elope for many Arab states. I think because it is a more "random" place, they want to make sure it is not a fraudulent marriage. The CO was very nice to my husband and said we have a very solid case otherwise, everything else is perfect, and that they would call us in 3 days. Right now our case is in administrative processing when I check the case number. As you can imagine we are waiting on pins and needles...so I am just writing to see if anyone has had a similar experience, or can provide any support or encouragement. Thanks so much. Nicole

    K-1 Interview Cancelled without reason

My fiance had his k-1 visa interview scheduled for July 6 in Montreal. He had his physical done yesterday and has everything ready and just received an e-mail that his interview was canceled and he has to reschedule. There are no dates available. Has anyone heard of this happening before? We have no idea why and don't want to reschedule just for this to happen again. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
  5. hi all! Not sure where to post this. I have my interview for my green card (FINALLY!) on 26 june. I've also been offered a job by a US company. In my offer letter it explicitly states that the offer is subject to me being granted the green card, with a start date of July 30. So, it'd be clear to the consulate that I haven't applied for the job fraudulently. Will this help or harm my case at interview? Should I take the offer letter with me?

    Lost in Translation

I received an email this morning about our interview in two days. There were instructions and links about getting to the embassy, what's required, etc, which of course I have already looked in to. One link was about confirming the appointment, which I dutifully clicked on. The page was a dead end. I couldn't find any way to confirm our appointment again. I know I've already confirmed the appointment and paid the fee and chosen courier delivery, but part of me is thinking " They've sent this email, I must need to take action", like a dutiful person. I spent 20 minutes searching around with no joy so I decide to call the embassy to check our appointment is on. I didn't expect to interact with an actual person without first going through the automated answer service, so I wasn't going in to this experience naively. I listened to the options. None fitted what I was asking. After listening twice I plumped for "non-immigrant visa", "scheduling an appointment". Then I was asked to enter our account number (What is that? Is that the WAC number, the A#, the LND case number, the IRV number? Not once in this process has an "account" number been mentioned) followed by the pound sign. Forgive me, but this is the UK. A pound sign here is £. My mind is like by this point. There is no £ on a telephone keypad. After hanging on the line trying to figure this out the automated service cuts me off. So I call again and try another route. Same thing - enter the pound sign. ????!? So I try again. No joy. I am nearly crying thinking 2 years of preparation will be for nothing because I don't have £ sign on my phone keypad. I sent them an online query because there was no way I could get through on the phone. I got a reply in a few minutes - your request will be responded to in 3 - 4 business days. When my fiance wakes up and calls me (I sure won't miss the abyss of mornings of waiting for him to wake up) I explain what's happened. Guess what? Pound sign in the US is also #. How are Brits meant to know that? How can an embassy make such a mistake with understanding the language in the country they are operating in? # is hash, pound is £ !! I logged in to our account and our current status is "Attend Appointment", so I guess it was unnecessary and my instincts were right. They sent a generic email that isn't updated to current procedure. So I pinged off another online message to the embassy - "Hello, I sent an enquiry earlier today about getting through to the embassy via phone. I had an issue about the automated menu asking for customers to press the pound sign after entering their account number. I am pointing out how ridiculous it is that a telephone service in the UK would use the term "pound sign" in a country where the pound sign means this - £, a currency symbol. After speaking to my American fiance I understand the confusion. In the US pound sign means #, in some archaic way. Are British citizens expected to know that our everyday terminology for our currency means something entirely different in the US, but not commonly. Isn't # internationally known as hash? Please update your service and avoid this confusion! It's ridiculous." We'll laugh about it someday.

  10. Hi, My wife got the letter from NVC stating the date of visa interview at the Mumbai US consulate. My question is: when she has to schedule the medical exams, should she schedule it 2weeks or few days before the interview day? How much earlier or shortest time is it preferable to schedule the medical prior to the visa interview, given the time to receive the results back? Thanks
  11. Hi all, My fiancee just completed her medical interview, and they are telling her to take her results in a sealed envelope to her visa interview. I was under the impression that the results would be forwarded by the clinic prior to the interview for review by the embassy. Has anyone else had any experience with this process recently? Thanks, Matt
  12. hi, VJ members: Does anyone has been through a consular processing after I-601A approval? My category is F2B, and want to know what questions were asked during interview. My timeline: PD: 2006-8 601a Lockbox: 2017-9-14 601a Approval: 2018-1-19 NVC SD: 2018-02-01
  13. Hey all: Question: My beneficiary has dual citizenship for both Germany and Ireland (though he plans to have his visa stamped in his Irish passport). However, his country of residence is currently the UK. When it comes time for his interview, will he be able to have it at the consulate in London? Or will be he required to go to Berlin or Dublin? All of this information was provided in the petition we submitted a few weeks back. Secondly, for the sake of my timeline and profile with VisaJourney, should I keep his country as UK?
  14. My wife and I have her visa interview scheduled at the US Embassy in Manila. I have many, many photos of us together, taken during my previous three trips to visit my (now) wife and her family. I had archived them on Facebook, so the resolution is now good enough for about half-page (5"x6-7"~ish) prints. How many photos should I plant to take with me me? Should I just pick the best 1-3 photos for each event, or should I plant to print and take everything to the interview? What about photos that include my wife's family, or wide-angle photos that have us in them (small) but are more scenic?

    Visa Interview Cenomar

My wife and I are preparing for her visa interview at the US Embassy in Manila. We are applying for a CR-1 immigration visa. I heard or read somewhere that we may be asked to produce her Cenomar, but I think we had to surrender it to get our marriage license. We were married in the Philippines. Is the Cenomar only required for the fiance (K-1?) visa?

    Interview Appointment Times

We received an interview appointment at the US Embassy in Manila, but the appointment time is a little cryptic. The time is set for "06:40 (20)." I take this to mean 6:40 AM. Does anyone know if that is right, and what does the "(20)" mean?
  17. Good morning! I have a few questions about the K-1 visa: I am desiring to to file the petition for my fiancé in December. However, I am visiting him again in February. Should I wait until then to file or can my fiancé present this additional evidence at the interview? Also, about the affidavit of support: do I have to make a certain amount? Will it matter if I have children? And do I need “wet” signatures for the intent to marry documents and evidence? Lastly, What are some ideas for the intent to marry evidence? Thank you guys in advance for all your help !

    CR1 - Interview - LDN

Hi I received an email yesterday morning from AskNVC and the letter stated that there is some information missing and that I am to show it at my interview. the information in question is my wife's financial documents as she is sponsoring me. She is earning enough to look after 8 dependents according to the poverty guidelines and she is only sponsoring me. so I am unsure why they need further information. It tells me to bring further information to the visa interview. How long is it until I get my visa interview? Does it come in the post or by email? I heard London is quite good.
