  1. Hello all, I got an SSN before I got married, and now I'm thinking of going to the Social Security office to have my info updated to my married name. However, I found this on the Social Security website: " Corrected Card for a Noncitizen Adult If you change your name, become a U.S. citizen, or your immigration status or work authorization has changed, you need to tell Social Security so we can update our records and when necessary, issue a new card. " Source: https://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ss5doc.htm The thing is, my AOS packet is still pending. Once my applications come through, am I supposed to "declare" to Social Security that AOS and EAD have been approved? Does that mean I shouldn't have my name updated until then? Because I might be wasting a whole trip/process if I'd have to come back after approval anyways. Need advice on the matter.
  2. Hi everyone, i registered USCIS government system to check my my case closely and i picked my fiances username because i thought i will be using this system for my greencard and naturalization in future as married person. But now my fiance and i are on k1 visa process and not married yet, we both are single. I have heard that if uscis or consular officer thinks that you are married they immediately reject your visa, do you know if they think we got married before k1 visa is approved because i used my fiances surname? Do they check my username on uscis system? I am worried about that, please help.
  3. I filed I -751 ROC in Sept 2017 alone due to abuse. I separated from my husband after a year of being with him. He completely changed 380 degrees, and made verbal threats against me to report to immigration even if I didn’t do something wrong. For these reasons. I hired an immigration lawyer. i submitted all proofs of bonafide marriage starting from the time we were married in my country. I worked hard to support myself without depending on him after the separation. I had no psychological reports of abuse because I barely had money that time. I only had church support, prayers, and affidavits from friends. After almost a year of separation,I filed for divorce and it was approved. I had a lawyer who helped me with the filing of ROC and when I was called for interview, I handed the final divorce decree to the officer. My question is, at the time of filing of ROC papers, everything was based on emotional abuse. Then, my papers were not updated using divorce waiver by my lawyer. I handed the final divorce paper to the officer. Will USCIS update my status to divorce waiver? we both entered marriage in good faith and my ex husband promised to me and my family he would never hurt me. But things changed. I am patiently waiting since June 2019. Any experiences past 120 days since the interview? Are they following the timelines based on receipt of cases in the local offices?
  4. Sooooo ummmm... Received two emails: Application Type: I130, PETITION FOR ALIEN RELATIVE Your Case Status: Initial Review Your interview for your Form I130, PETITION FOR ALIEN RELATIVE, Receipt Number <xxx>, was completed, and your case must be reviewed. We will mail you a notice if we make a decision or take further action. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address. During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators. If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition. Two seconds later (according to headers that show when my gmail account received the email) I receive the good one: Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production On August 30, 2017, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number <yyy>, and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address. This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application. If you do not receive your document, please contact our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283. I want to believe the second one (GC on it's way, F YEA!), and assume the I-130 was simply updated because there has been no updates on that one apart from "we received it". But I'm a little afraid to think good things prematurely? Is this normal? Are we approved?

  7. Hello Everyone, For CR1 my case got updated 4th time (April 12th, 2019). I inquired them on Wednesday (April 10th). This is the 2nd time I sent them an email, first the time I send them was on March 11 and they updated my case the same day. Now I am bit confused as this update is because of my email or they did it themself? Also I got interviewed on January 17th, 2019. I read in few threads that after 4/5 updates your visa get issued. Any idea will I be getting visa issued on next update or anything else. They didn't send me any email in response to my query I really appreciate your help. Thanks
  8. Hello, Today I received this update on my case one month after filing and I have three questions: 1- Will I get the date of my interview on the My Case website or only through the mail? 2- How long after this notice should I receive my interview date? 3- How long after receiving this notice could my interview date be? You can check my timeline to help me answer these questions. Thanks guys!
