  1. Hi everyone, My wife (from Denmark) had her immigration interview on Tuesday, January 29 in Stockholm, Sweden. They told her that our application is great, however, before they can issue the visa, they need her to re-submit a new birth certificate. She is getting that document tomorrow and she will overnight mail it to the embassy in Stockholm, so they should have it on Monday of next week. How long does it take them to approve documents that have been mailed to them? They said once they receive and approve the document, they will be able to issue the visa and mail her passport back to her. I am getting very impatient and do not have a lot of faith that they will look at the document and approve it right away, just based on how long the entire process takes already. Does anyone have any idea on how long we could be looking at to get her visa issued? Thanks in advance!
  2. Hi everyone, I have been working on an approved O-1 petition for the last two years in the US. Came back to Sweden over the holidays for the first time since I got it approved and had my interview at the embassy. Still waiting on my passport back. Anyone in a similar situation? Status has been saying "Administrative Processing" with no updates since I was there (Dec 18th, 2017). Officer said it was approved and that I'd receive it within a week. Didn't receive any documents. Interview location: Stockholm, Sweden Visa: O-1 Interview Date: Dec 18th, 2017 Today's date: Jan 8th Any info would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!
  3. Hi, I'm from Sweden and my husband from the US. We both currently live in the U.S. We are in the middle of our filing for AoS through marriage. Thus, I need to submit my Birth Certificate, which is non-existent. Instead I requested a "Personbevis" (Extract from the population register) through the Swedish Tax Agency, "Skatteverket". Is this enough evidence? If not, what other evidence can I use? Also, can I go to a Swedish consulate and ask them to write a statement that it does not exist? Since this is what I found on USCIS: "Where a record does not exist, the applicant or petitioner must submit an original written statement on government letterhead establishing this from the relevant government or other authority" https://www.uscis.gov/ilink/docView/SLB/HTML/SLB/0-0-0-1/0-0-0-11261/0-0-0-11630/0-0-0-11646.html Thanks!
  4. I am swedish, my husband is american, we got married in sweden. We filed our application 7 months ago and just got a letter saying we need to show evidence of our marriage. I have sent them the 120 form (Personbevis in english) and that is the same one the embassy requested as a marriage certificate when we reported our daughters birth. Now they are saying we need to giv them more proof, aka a marriage certificate- But sweden does´t have that! What do I do? Anyone? Please help.
  5. Hey you beautiful people, Here is the situation. I (American) just got married to my love (Swedish) and we currently live in Sweden but are looking to move back to Colorado as soon as possible. I "think" that I have found everything but I want to run it by you guys to see what I am missing for the CR1 petition. *I-130 *I-130A *G-1145 *Cover Letter *Copy of US Birth Certificate or US Passport *Copy of Marriage Certificate (in English) *Divorce Documents (she was previously married) *2 Passport photos of me *2 Passport photos of her *Evidence of a Bonafide Marriage............. (not sure what all to gather for this) And should be sent to USCIS P.O. Box 804625 Chicago, IL 60680-4107 And must we pay before we send the application or after we are approved? I am really sorry if this seems a bit annoying, but I want to be crystal clear when sending in all of this information. Any links or official websites would be greatly appreciated! Thank you and Cheers.
  6. Hi yall. I got an RFE (Request for Evidence) for my I-130 petition for my CR-1 yesterday in the mail. I am a little confused what they exactly want. I gave them a call but the woman on the phone said she can't see the exact details and she recommended to browse some groups online or call my nearest Embassy... so here I am! My husband is Swedish and I am American. They said they received the English translation of a personbevis (extract of the population register) which is the evidence I provided for us being married and living together, birth of our child, etc. They said they need a copy of the original Swedish language extract and then also an English translated copy with it. It doesn't say that it has to be a cetfified translator exactly, but it says someone who is competent to translate. I am wondering if sending the personbevis/extract of the population register which is signed and stamped by the tax agency/authority in English and Swedish is enough? The stamp and signature basically states it is the proper and true document, so I would think it means the English translation is correct. Has anyone had this issue? Did you just send that document? The other option would be to get the whole document translated by an authorized translator, but it would say the same exact information... Though the letter doesn't exactly say that a certified translator is needed. Anyway, thank you for your help!
  7. Hello. My boyfriend lives in Sweden and we plan on marrying here in the US towards the end of this year. We've only met in person once before as our entire relationship was mainly just online for the past two years. What proof will we need to provide later on next year once I apply for him? He won't be in the US when I apply to sponsor him, he will still be residing in his country. He will come to live with me once everything is approved.. if everything is approved. I'm just so worried about it all because we only met once and I don't know what evidence we need to provide.
  8. Hello I am from America and my boyfriend is from Sweden. What visa will allow him to visit America for a lengthy period of time (three months) and then return again after a short period of time in Sweden? And how often can he do this per year? Thank you.
