  1. I booked my interview yesterday, and I have two questions about what I am requiered to bring with me to the interview. So I'm hoping there's other people from Sweden here that's already had their interview and that might be able to help. 🙃 First I have a question about the birth certificate they mention in the email with instructions. First it says: Please provide the original birth certificate from country of birth (Sweden). Followed by: Please request an extract of the population register from the Swedish Tax Agency (Personbevis). The certificate must state the date and place of birth and the names of both parents. Please request the English version. I have gotten the extraxt from the population register that they're asking for already. It's original with a signature and a stamp on it. Is that enough? Because it confuses me that they first ask for the original birth certificate which as far as I know we don't have in Sweden. I don't know if we did before and I have no contact with my parents. On the Swedish Tax Agency's website they say that the extract mentioned can be used as a birth certificate. So if I bring that with me I should be fine... right? 🤔 My second question is about the evidence of relationship they're asking for. I'm putting together evidence from between the I-129F and up until now to prove on-going contact. We haven't met since filing, though, due to wanting to save money and vacation days for the wedding/honeymoon. They're asking for proof of meeting, which we sent in with the original petition... So do I bring the same evidence or do they have that already? Did USCIS/NVC "just" send them the approved I-129F or did they include the whole packet that we sent them? I hope someone can help out! 😇
  2. Hi, I'm from Sweden and my husband from the US. We both currently live in the U.S. We are in the middle of our filing for AoS through marriage. Thus, I need to submit my Birth Certificate, which is non-existent. Instead I requested a "Personbevis" (Extract from the population register) through the Swedish Tax Agency, "Skatteverket". Is this enough evidence? If not, what other evidence can I use? Also, can I go to a Swedish consulate and ask them to write a statement that it does not exist? Since this is what I found on USCIS: "Where a record does not exist, the applicant or petitioner must submit an original written statement on government letterhead establishing this from the relevant government or other authority" https://www.uscis.gov/ilink/docView/SLB/HTML/SLB/0-0-0-1/0-0-0-11261/0-0-0-11630/0-0-0-11646.html Thanks!
  3. Hi everybody, I am writing to see which makes the most sense, from a financial standpoint? The k1 fiance Visa or getting married and applying for cr1 Visa? Thank you for your input!
  4. Hi everyone, My wife (from Denmark) had her immigration interview on Tuesday, January 29 in Stockholm, Sweden. They told her that our application is great, however, before they can issue the visa, they need her to re-submit a new birth certificate. She is getting that document tomorrow and she will overnight mail it to the embassy in Stockholm, so they should have it on Monday of next week. How long does it take them to approve documents that have been mailed to them? They said once they receive and approve the document, they will be able to issue the visa and mail her passport back to her. I am getting very impatient and do not have a lot of faith that they will look at the document and approve it right away, just based on how long the entire process takes already. Does anyone have any idea on how long we could be looking at to get her visa issued? Thanks in advance!
  5. Hi everyone, I have been working on an approved O-1 petition for the last two years in the US. Came back to Sweden over the holidays for the first time since I got it approved and had my interview at the embassy. Still waiting on my passport back. Anyone in a similar situation? Status has been saying "Administrative Processing" with no updates since I was there (Dec 18th, 2017). Officer said it was approved and that I'd receive it within a week. Didn't receive any documents. Interview location: Stockholm, Sweden Visa: O-1 Interview Date: Dec 18th, 2017 Today's date: Jan 8th Any info would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!
