  1. Hi, I have gained my Lawful Permanent Resident status in the US on April 2019, last year, on that time I was serving in the army under mandatory law for military service in my home country. I have been serving since November 2017 and until July 2020. I have already had flight tickets in my hands into the US that were planned for April 2020- so I shall not remain outside of the US for a period longer than 1 year. Unfortunately, Covid-19 pandemic has shown up and I could not have come to the US on times because the airline has cancelled my tickets. because of that, I have exceeded 1 year outside of US borders and now I need to apply for SB-1 Returning Resident visa in order to come back to the US. this upcoming process is exhausting and complicated in order to issue me a new immigrant visa and may hurt my naturalisation process. my green card was only issued last year and is valid until 2029, my question is if would you recommend for me to just take a flight now into the US and deal with the immigration officer at the port of entry or start this visa process with the embassy in my home country?
  2. Greetings Fellow Members, So my situation is a little more difficult, aka red tape and other matters, than the average story here. I am engaged to a Venezuelan lady living in Ecuador on a Humanitarian Visa. We had planned to get married last year while i was in Ecuador but then the pandemic hit, embassies were closed, other problems arose, and i returned to the USA unwed to her. We had decided it would be easier and cheaper to be wed in Ecuador but now that didn't happen and i overstayed my tourist visa in Ecuador due to the pandemic, therefore; i'm waiting to hear when i will be allowed back in Ecuador if we decide to get married there. So her Visa is now due this year and the cost of it has gone up a ton. She doesn't want to pay for it to stay in Ecuador due to being unhappy there and the hopes of us being together here in the USA. She says there also is a small window for the documents before they expire of the ones she gets from Venezuela to be used in regards to us getting married in Ecuador. WIth all that's happening with our situation, i'm not sure what the best option is anymore. Get married in Ecuador, apply for a K1-visa, or another option that i haven't thought of? Thanks in advance for everyone's advice and recommendations.
  3. Hi, Me and my fiance met last year during the pandemic - I'm in London he's in US. We met once so far (November) as british citizens are not allowed to travel to US. During his first visit he had to quarantine for 14 days so we only managed to take few photos at home (roughly 5). We can provide chat history, face time logs. He's visiting again in February and we are planning to gather more evidence. Will what we have be enough to submit the application and continue collecting evidence if necessary to provide later on? Thanks
  4. Hello everyone. F2A category here. I'm really worried thinking how presidential proclamation and pandemic of 2020 is going to affect the timeline of NVC processing now. I submitted all my docs and DS260 to NVC in October 2020. Keeping the possible backlogs of this year in mind, when should I expect NVC to respond and schedule my interview at the embassy now ? Any leads ? Are people being interviewed these days or is it still suspended because of covid. Thanks in advance.
  5. I have several questions that have not been answered by NVC (not an emergency so can't email them) nor by the Montreal Consulate. Maybe someone here could help me out. I was documentarily approved for my visa by the NVC in early June. The next step is that the NVC is working with the consulates to schedule an appointment. Here are my questions. 1. What is required for the Montreal Consulate to open? I know other US consulates are open (Jamaica, Paris...) to interview cr1/ir1 visa holders, why isn't ours yet. 2. Is the Montreal Consulate even working with NVC on scheduling or is there a huge backlog of scheduling that needs to happen when the consulate actually opens? 3. Will I be processed before Christmas? Oh dear Lord, I'm so tired of single-parenting 2 preschoolers in a small apartment in Winnipeg during a pandemic. Ok, maybe this is more of a rant, but I'm so ready for this all to get going again.
  6. My wife's i130 has been approved but because of the current situation we were wondering how i130 cases and embassy interviews are being done because of the pandemic. Right now our case is with the NVC but we haven't finished filing yet. When we do finish filing, is it even possible to get an interview at this time? Also, because the US is the epicenter, how long can we wait to finish the NVC part before our case is dismissed? We live in Colombia and here the US embassy is saying that they're not attending any non-essential interviews in person. Is that to say it's possible to have an embassy interview for i130 visa approval online through video chat? What's the best decision for now? Finish filing and wait for an interview or wait until things clear up in the states then finish applying? I understand that you have a year after your i130 is approved until your case is dismissed, correct me if I"m wrong.. How have others gone about this process in the current situation? Thanks for all your help!!
  7. Dear International Friends, I have stage 4 cancer and need/want to get my beloved here from Brazil for love and emotional support during further treatments and perhaps end of life stage. This is not to be confused with care giving, which we understand is a 'job' and he does not have a valid avenue to work. We have been in a document-able relationship for 6 years, but haven't chosen to marry. Now we regret that, but who knew?!! We have read about & seen foreign nationals from listed countries (UK, Brazil, Ireland, EU, Iran, China) coming in through Mexico City, but we are not sure on what basis they are being allowed in. Trump's proclaimation states that anyone coming into the US may not have spent any time in the last 14 days in any of the listed countries. He plans to spend 15 days in Mexico City, then POE through Los Angeles International. I have a guest house for him to self-quarantine here in Los Angeles after arrival. We know tourism isn't allowed, and this isn't business. He will have round trip tickets purchased with changeable travel dates, ($10K!!) which we don't wish to jeopardize just to be turned away. Preparation is key. He has 3 negative coronavirus tests (blood, throat, nasal), valid passport and visa, heath declaration, travelers health insurance, a copy of my birth certificate, statement from my doctors/treatment center etc, all of which we could produce if needed, but wouldn't unless asked. 1) will his current (until 2022) BI/B2 tourist visa suffice? 2) could he be denied entry into Mexico? 3) what kinds of questions might we expect in the US 4) is our reason good enough to gain entry? 5) what words should we never or always use? 6) any experience or advise to offer? Thank you, Odessa Jane
  8. Hi there, I am curious to know if it is possible to travel to the United States with a existing tourist VISA at this moment. The person concerning this has already visited the states once and wants to revisit again, they would like to travel from Bangladesh either on a special chartered flight or regular commercial flights.
  9. Hi All, My i130 is approved in USCIS and was sent to NVC for processing. NVC has reviewed my petition and has documentarily qualified it and is awaiting for an interview schedule at US consulate India. My question is, I haven't uploaded my PCC document in portal and have requested NVC regarding the pandemic situation and the temporary shutdown of PSK/RPO in my circle (Tamil Nadu). I have scheduled appointment at PSK twice and in both occurrence the PSK was closed, am unsure when the PSK will resume and will I be getting the PCC on same day of appointment. If the US consulate interview date is scheduled, what should I do to get the PCC expedite and is there any alternative? Regards, Rafic
  10. Hello. I’m an american citizen. My wife and I were married last year in Spain, so our marriage is completely legal in Spain, but not processed in the US. She is currently living and working in London. She is planning to come visit me here in the US for one month during this pandemic with an ESTA. Is she able to board an airplane and cross the US border smoothly since she is the spouse of an American citizen? We are planning to put together all info such as, marriage certificate (in spanish from Spain), proof of one month round trip flight, work contract proving she’s not trying to stay, also, some extensive proof just in case. Has anyone experienced something similar to this? By traveling with an ESTA, is she going to be able to cross the border as a spouse of a US citizen?
