  1. Hi all, I just wanted to share this article for our Canadian friends and their SOs. Canadians who work in the marijuana industry — and those who invest in the booming pot sector — risk a lifetime ban on travel to the U.S., according to a senior official overseeing U.S border operations. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/09/13/canada-weed-pot-border-783260
  2. I am a Indian, non-US Citizen, on H1B visa and my green card is approved and waiting for my priority date which is 2014 December, to kick of the process. I have no previous charges and a first time offender. I was driving back from San Diego after attending a test and on my way back purchased some edibles, cartridge and flower and put it in my backpack. I was stopped at the AZ border patrol and the cop gave me a citation to appear at the Wellton court. I had less than 0.5 ounce and the cops let me drive back home. I contacted a law firm and they have a flat pre-trial fee for $15000 and post trial fee of $5000. These funds are way to expensive and hard to secure it. I am freaking about the stupid mistake I did and any advice is much appreciated. I m worried about m visa status and green card approval. Any ideas and tips are really appreciated.
  3. Hi everyone I have looked through the older posts in this topic but none of them adress my situation directly so im asking again to have more clarity. I am 24 from London. I plan to join my fiance in california. I will be doing the medical soon. I plan to answer ' yes ' to have i used drugs before. I smoked marijuana once when i was 15, and have not touched it since. What is likely to be the outcome? Will the medical examiner let it slide completely? Will i have a drugs test, and if i pass, all will be well? Many thanks
  4. Can someone explain what this exactly means in the DS-260 form? I have searched the forums but could not find any answers related to this question. I have smoked weed in the past, so I guess I should be answering 'Yes' to the question. It seems (from the posts I read) that people admit at the medical. What does this question exactly mean? I have never been convicted, arrested or fined and never planned to violate any laws, but smoking weed is illegal/decriminalized here so I guess that would be 'violation'? What should I answer? Yes? or No and then admit Yes and explain at medical? Would I get an outright ban for life? Or one year ban? I can take a drug test if needed as this was in the past and probably doesn't show any longer. I read if you admit, you are banned for life. Is this so? What should I do?
  5. Hi everyone. So i'm trying to figure out how worried I should be here... My husband has his medical and interview scheduled in London. We noticed the form asks about past drug use. Although he is not a habitual marijuana user he has used occasionally in his past. He also has a police caution from his past for marijuana (probably 20 or so years ago) and we are also concerned his GP may have included something about marijuana use on his medical summary since he has admitted to his GP about occasional marijuana use. Although we don't know that yet as we haven't yet received the medical summary. I have perused through visa journey looking for similar cases but most that I have found are from quite a few years ago so was hoping to get more up to date advice. Does anyone know how strict are they on past occasional marijuana use? Is it an automatic one year delay? Or does it depend on the mood and opinion of the officer? I hope we are not at risk for being denied over this. Any advice, knowledge or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  6. So I don’t know if this is a factor or not I applied for the k-1 fiancé visa recently and I’ve been reading horror stories about people who failed the drug test because they were around second hand weed smoke... I haven’t but my mom does smoke and I live with her and when I hug her often she does smell like marijuana... also my brother has smoked across the hall from me when he lived here but I haven’t had direct contact with weed smoke. Could I still fail the test?

    Immigration to Japan weed test

Hey guys. I'm going to study in Japan for a year, and was wondering if anyone knows if they test you for weed either when applying for the visa or when entering Japan? I'm going to apply from Australia. I've only smoked twice before, once roughly a year ago and once a few months ago. I wanna try it once more before leaving, but I have no interest in bringing any to Japan.

H1b stamp and marijuana arrest record

Hi everyone, I have been in the US for about 5 years now, 4 years on an F1, 1 year on OPT. Recently I got my H1B approved. Now I plan on traveling home to get my H1B stamp. About 14 months ago I was arrested in New York City for smoking marijuana in public (NY 221.10) a class B misdemeanor. I was given an MACD (CPL 170.56) for two months, so I did not have to plead anything, and then the case was dismissed (CPL 160.50), sealed and records expunged. I realize this will always show up when I am fingerprinted when I apply for the stamp and at the port of entry. Has anyone else been in this situation? I know there is not much I can do now, and it will always be a risk when I travel, but what are the chances that they deny my visa straight away and anything I can do at that point? I have the official court disposition but other than that anything else I should carry? Any advice regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated. I would have to travel soon for family reasons so just making sure I do everything I can to prepare myself for it. Thanks!

  10. I am a US citizen and a medical marijuana patient through the state of Michigan. My girlfriend is from Canada. Will my medical marijuana status impact me sponsoring her for a K-1 visa? We both smoke, but it will be legal in Canada come July 1 (that's when we want to file.) Any suggestions? Advice? Tips? Experience? We both smoke pretty regularly...
