Hi, I'm 27 years old Japanese living in MN from May 25th 2017. I came here with fiance, K-1 visa. I got married June 13th. We had our wedding ceremony in October. It was crazy stressful but the day was the best. We are taking things seriously and we were submitting papers ASAP with checking so many times. But so many troubles soooo stressful. The most recent issue is my insurance. I was kicked off because I don't have SSn and my fiance VISA expired and I changed my last name on my old passport. In this country, things are so different from Japan. People are not so kind than Japanese. I miss Japanese kindness and hospitality. Nobody tells what to do. We feel totally lost. I hope I can help others and others can help us here. Living in a different country is so tough. Language, no friends no family, inconvenience.
Not certain this is the correct topic area. Sorry. My wife's green card was approved and been mailed to our US address just fine. However, we didn't realize she could have put her name with my last name on the green card application. E.g., she is Hanako Yamamoto. My last name is Doe. She wanted to change her name for life in the US to Hanako Doe, but we didn't realize we were just supposed to write that on the green card application, so now she is still Hanako Yamamoto. To do a green card name change, you have to fill out the form and pay the fees (I-90). One of the required documentation is evidence of legal name change. OUR QUESTION: since we have only the koseki as documentation indicating our marriage, should it be enough for the I-90 green card name change? Relatedly, could we file the I-90 as an error made by USCIS, since the documentation we could provide would be identical?
BowseRx posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHello again everyone. I am preparing the I-129f form and in part Item numbers 49a - 50f, The instructions state to put My fiancé's name and address in her native alphabet. When she tries to type in Japanese in the form, the program crashes. I downloaded a Japanese keyboard to use and it crashes when I do the same as well. I tried typing in English in those fields and it works just fine. Any ideas on how to remedy this? One other quick question I had was that she worked a part time job at a hotel in 2014, for 3 weeks, but she can't find the exact dates she worked. Can I just put unknown for the start and end dates there, or will that result in a RFE?
