  1. Hi everyone. I thought I would create a thread fo all of us who have petitions pending in China during this outbreak to share information. The embassy was closed last week due to the Chinese extension of spring festival holiday, and now the embassies have suspending visa services due to the US government’s limited staffing at the embassies and due to the president’s proclamation banning entry of foreigners who have been in China in the past 14 days. For myself, my fiancé visa petition was scheduled to be shipped to Guangzhou embassy last week and it didn’t ship, the next scheduled shipment is supposed to be next week on the 18th. At this point I don’t even think that’s going to happen. NVC says that they will of course extended the validity period of petitions they couldn’t be processed by the Embassies in China due to the outbreak, but that doesn’t worry me as much as trying to figure out when my loved one is gonna be able to get here. Anyone else out there in similar circumstances?
  2. Hi guys, I completed my interview and my passport pick up date was in March (I got a yellow slip) . However, the day before my pick up- the embassy announced that they are closing for COVID. The country has opened officially from last week but the US embassy remains closed. I have emailed them regarding this and they reply with an automated email. Any idea how i could reach them? and when the embassy might open? My husband and I miss each other so much and it has been so long I wish i could see him soon.
  3. Hello All I thought I would make a Thread for Australian's who have their CASE COMPLETE at NVC and are waiting for an Interview to be scheduled at the US Consulate in Sydney! It might make it easy for us to keep in touch and update each other! I hope this is OK 🐨 We were DQ'd this morning so we will be waiting a while lol
  4. Hello, I am a US citizen sponsoring my Venezuelan citizen spouse for an immigrant visa. Our I-130 petition was recently approved and we are now at the beginning of the NVC stage. Since the US Embassy in Caracas has been closed for over a year, I understand that the immigrant visa interviews are being conducted in Colombia. I would love to have some insight into the process of a Venezuelan traveling to Colombia for the final interview, and anyone that has been through this process personally is someone I would love to hear from. In the interest of planning ahead, I have several questions: 1) Is the US Embassy in Bogota even open right now due to COVID-19? Are interviews on hold? 2) How much advanced notice is given for the interview date (to plan for travel to Colombia from Venezuela and from the USA since I intend on going to be there to support my spouse even if I cannot attend the interview)? 3) Must the medical exam appointment be made and completed in Colombia? 4) Must Spanish documents be translated to English even though Colombia is a Spanish-speaking country (I ask because I read conflicting information online)? 5) How long after the interview is the immigrant visa issued and what options are there for receiving back the passport with the visa in it (return to embassy, DHL)? I may have other questions which I will ask later, but these are the most pressing. Thanks in advance!
  5. Hello Members, I hope you are all well. Have you recently filled the Writ of Mandamus for your IR1 ?📃✒ Have your case moved or its paused due to Covid..?📰
  6. Hello, My husband had an interview for his IR1 immigrant visa on October 31st 2019 in the U.S. embassy in Guatemalan. He was approved at the time of the interview. It has been 3 business days and CEAC still shows as ready and it does show case updated on November 4, 2019. But the status stayed on ready. Should I be worried?
Dobrodosli <3

  9. Has anyone tried requesting an expedite as of late? or have experience expediting via Montreal? we are the NVC stage, and we submitted ours on the 27th of April and received and email yesterday saying they will be reviewing it. Wondering how much work is actually being done at the consulate right now, or how long it usually takes..
  10. Hey everyone, so I just received an email. However, I cannot open the messages. It says; need document, police certificate and NVC feedback. When I look at our documents they’ve all been approved, and my police certificate was approved with the follow note; This explanation has been accepted for NVC purposes. However, when you are able to obtain this document, you will need to upload this document under other/additional documents and present the original to the consular office. does this mean I still need to wait And submit my PCC before it can be sent for an interview? we’re going to try and call but idk how long that will take.. TIA
  11. Hi everyone! I just want to have a clear thoughys about my dilemma. We have received a welcome email from NVC with instructions to pay fees and submit docs. I noticed that my application was classified as CR1. I have read from forums that CR1 is for couples who are married less than 2 years. IR1 is for couples who have been married for 2 years and above. My situation is, our marriage will be 2 years by next month. In the middle of all the petition procedures. Is the 2 years of marriage based on the time we have submitted our petition or by the time that the Principal Applicant entered the USA? Is the visa class be updated or we will retain as CR 1 even if we celebrate the 2 years of marriage? Any thoughts please. I hope all of you are safe and healthy!
  12. I might be able to catch a flight from Lebanon to Germany (transit)to the US. will i be able to do so if i hold an IR1 visa? did anyone try doing this before? TIA
  13. Hi, I was wondering if you know how long you can stay out of the usa with an ir1 visa? I read somewhere that you are required not to leave the USA for more than a year , is that correct?
  14. I could not find a general forum for all the Texas Service Center filers to come together and share their progress. This will give us TSC filers a general idea of what dates they are currently working on. My timeline is in my signature. Good luck to everyone, keep us up to date on your progress!
  15. Hi there, I have a couple of questions about evidence of our marriage/relationship for the I-130. The evidence asked for on the online I-130 asked just for marriage related things like certificate, tenancy documents, Any other relevant documentation to establish that there is an ongoing marital union (which I guess can include photos of wedding ceremony receipts of wedding and rings) which I can provide. Although, the beginning of our relationship before my wife came to Australia, we were long distance. Most of our chats happened over different platforms like Tumblr, Viber (which I do not have logs for any more >__<) and iMessage and FaceTime calls. Question 1: Do I need to add chat/ call logs in as evidence of time spent while apart? I'm struggling to find this old information as it was about 4-5 years ago, I've only got little screenshots here and there. Question 2: Are photos and airline receipts enough evidence as I can easily source these or do I need whats mentioned in Q1? Question 3: AM I reading too much into it all and should just provide marriage evidence? Thanks in advance!
  16. Hey guys I arrived in the US two weeks ago. I paid my green card fee last week. I called SSN office in columbus to ask them if I could apply for SSN. They told me that SSN offices were closed for public. Just want to confirm from you guys if it is a correct information. Can I apply for SSN online? Or i will have to wait for the offices to open? Thanks for adavance.
  17. I have received a IR1 visa in the past several years ago through the my U.S.C. spouse. I never moved to the U.S. instead we stayed overseas. Finally we have applied again. However I just noticed that I missed a part-time employment in the previous DS260. I plan to include this part time employment in my current DS260. Would my current visa application be denied? If it helps, I do remember mentioning it in the I-130a but somehow missed it in the DS260.
  18. Hi there! So my wife and I are currently based in Australia and we are looking to start the IR-1 process! My questions are: 1. From Australia, can we send our packet to the required service centre from outside the country? 2. As my wife has no US income but had filed her taxes last year, will this still be accepted as a current tax return form? Thanks for your assistance!
  19. Does anyone know the photo requirements for online I-130? The I-130_instructions pdf says it should be taken within 30 days of filing this petition, while the online I-130 "photo composition tools" link states that it should've been taken in the last six months. Which one is correct?
  20. Hello all, We have some docuements to translate from Portuguese to English to submit with our I-130. My wife and I contacted a translator and the translator was asking if it was necessary to translate every detail of the finance statement (for example) like the glossary, small letters, questions about if we want paperless statements in the future, etc. Can we choose to translate only relevant information of those statements? Or every detail is necessary? We're asking because the cost of translation is very high for page... Thanks in advanced and regards, Thiago & Nelly
  21. Hello all. I'm a natural born US citizen living in the USA. I'm dating a wonderful Filipina who is an OFW in Dubai. She is still legally married, but hasn't been with her ex for many years. I meet all of the requirements for income, marital status, etc., and she and I have seen each other in Dubai and traveled to other countries together. She can get an annulment, of course. But, it will take a long time and be costly. And, we are also aware that the Philippine Congress is working on legalizing divorce. But, we are not too optimistic about the timetable of such a law. We would like to speed the process so we can live together in the USA. I'm reasonably convinced that she can get a divorce in Guam (or even Las Vegas, if we could get her here to the USA on a tourist VISA -- yes, I do understand that might be a violation of the intent of a tourist Visa). Her Ex would be cooperative. We understand that the divorce would not be valid in the Philippines, but we don't care much about that as a practical matter. What we would like to know is if she can obtain a VISA to the USA (either as a K-1 or CR-1) if we manage to get her a Guam divorce. Of course, she holds a Philippine passport and it does have her married name. Alternatively, is there a foreign country (preferably in UAE, but we could travel anywhere a Filipino could normally go) in which we might marry with the Guam divorce papers, and have that marriage recognized as legitimate during the CR-1 application process? We would apply for the K-1/CR-1 US Visa through the Dubai embassy, unless there is another method that someone might recommend. Thanks for your thoughts and input.
  22. My wife she is us citizen , she was arrested that month for drugs trafficking , i received the NVC welcome letter that month as well , about affidavit of support I have a co-sponsor , should I proceed and pay nvc fees or I will get a denial ?
  23. Dear, Visa Journey colleagues. My husband (US citizen) and I got married on April, 30th 2018 in Korea and we are currently under the NVC stage with immigration visa (CR1/IR1). As my husband wanted to stay with him, I've been going back and forth between US and Korea with ESTA (VISA WAIVER - up to 90 days stay) until now. We've been on going this immigration process through the lawyer (case priority date ; June, 2018), which is very unhelpful and wasting of time and money , And currently we got stuck at NVC stage for document review so long. After our lawyer's office screwed uploading papers on NVC portal a several times (duh), finally all documents were accepted EXCEPT the J1 visa document related to me. the J1 visa document was uploaded on the NVC portal on Sep. 2018, but no one reviewed it so far on the NVC end. the lawyer's office made an inquiry about it, however, all we could hear from the NVC is a sort of generic respond saying, "the document is still under review." . (Even this moment, we don't really trust what the lawyer office does. we didn't just fire them since we paid the balance and it seems like we are almost done with this painful visa journey) As I need to go back to Korea again on this upcoming April, to not overstay in the US with ESTA, We couldn't tolerate that kind of delays any further and finally spoke with the representative this morning after making more than 30 times of calls, needless to say we were on hold more than 40 minutes. (My husband always calls them but seems like he has more luck when I am with him while making a call 😮) The lady saying "due to the recent system update, the system might not show the document to the NVC officer for reviewing and that's what happens to you unfortunately. there's nothing I can do with it." It was really outrageous that we all could see the document on our end but NVC officer couldn't see it...? Even if it is true, c'mon.. How many times we made inquires about "that specific document" so far... srsly....!! Me and my husband was so furious, literally lost our words what to say, and asking her back how come no one contacts us regarding the issue,,, she replied to us ; there are so many cases, we cannot just review one by one and revert the opinion back, also said there's nothing she could do about it and just re upload the document on the portal. I know They have notorious fame with their case handling manner and it has been the issue for so many years and we're very exhausted with this kind of emotional distress. However, we really want to address this unbelievable issue to somewhere for the immediate attention on the case, regardless it is effective or not, as we believe some people need to speak their voice for the other people to prevent the same issue. I mean, We pursue the immigration process in a legit way, but consequently we are the victims due to the ignorance and systemic issue of the government. So Please Please advise where we could make complaints, either official or not, other than emailing / calling NVC, If you have any idea... (We already asked the lawyer for the channels, but we don't really expect positive answer from them.) Thank you in advance, Sincerely, K.
  24. Hi! My wife is in the us and she applied for me in September 2017 through California service center. When she applied she had green card. She is now citizen since July 2019.
