  1. How long does it take to get the welcome letter after the case was approved? Did you get an email or a mail? How can you get everthing by email instead of mail? My husband's case got approved 4 weeks ago and I haven't get the welcome letter
  2. Hello fam, I'm back here to my support system during the green card process as HRBlock and TurboTax weren't able to help. I came to the US in Jan 2016 on an F1 visa. Got a green card approved in Nov 2019. To my understanding, because I was in the US for less than 5 years ( Exempt individuals under substantial presence test (F visa) ) I was a non-resident till Nov 2019. After my approval, I'd be considered a resident for tax purposes and so need to file Dual Status Tax returns. Here's the link to the IRS site. Is this correct? How are the tax returns different (except that I file a 1040 with a 1040NR as a statement)? Is there a service you used if you were in a similar situation? Is there something I'm missing/any other considerations? Idk if this info matters but I'll be filing as a single person with no dependents and my green card was EB2. I'm nervous about tax returns because apparently DHS is super strict about tiny mistakes in them later on. Thanks in advance!
  3. I am self employed, and still on my fathers insurance for the next few years, that leaves my wife without health insurance. I just read some things that look like it's saying as of November 2019, she will be required to have insurance or we show proof that we have enough money to cover ourselves (I don't think we do) I've done some digging but can't find any details. Her interview for GC was just scheduled.
  4. When we sent our I130 and I485 packets to USCIS, we were able to send these as our evidence of bonafide marriage: our joint lease agreement, our photos, our text mesages, our video calls, engagement photos, wedding photos, our honemoon photos with our airfare ticket and itinerary travel package, our wedding reciepts, our letters and gifts for each other, joint health insurance, wedding expense reciepts, photos with friends and family. So my husband and I's green card interview is coming up the first week of next month. I read that it is best to bring additional new evidences. We were planning to have joint bank account but the bank requires a bill with my address and name on it in which it would be hard for us to get since all of our bills is under my husband's name. Comcast won't allow us to have joint accounts and our utility bills allowed us to have my name under his account, yet they will be sending our bill statement next month (it would probably be after the interview date). We only have our Costco joint account and some new photos, gifts and letters to each other. Would these suffice as additional new evidences? Thanks for your repsonse.
  5. Hi! We just got our interview date for my AOS. The mail indicates to bring evidences and so I was wondering if I should also bring the similar copy of the packet I sent for my AOS application? Also, I wasn't able to do my medical examination and so if I have it within this week, would it arrive before my interview? Thank you for your response!
  6. I came here in the US September 29, I paid my green card week before I arrived in the US but until now I haven’t heard anything from them, thoughts? 🥺
  7. Hi Everybody , I haven't been here a long time. I miss all my VJ friends and the community. I have a weird questions which I am getting mixed answers. I got my citizenship last week , my wife has been green card holder since October 2015 and we've been married more than 5 years. Does my wife have to wait once she is 5 years to apply for the citizenship or she can apply for it now since I am a us citizen and we have more than 5 years since we have been together. Thanks for reply.
