  1. Hi all, so so I have everything done for my adjustment of status application, but I just need to fill out the Checks. On the USCIS website it says that checks should have phone number pre printed or written in ink on the check. My checks don’t have my phone number pre printed on them so I’m going to have to write it on. where do I write it on? I imagine the memo section, but that space is gonna be used for “I-130 filing fee” and “I-485 fee and biometrics” Help please! What do everyone here do? Thanks!
  2. Hi all I am a K1 Visa recipient and my husband and I are filing our AOS soon. I have a question regarding the required tax documentation on the I-864, Affidavit of Support. I understand that if we file AOS before the end of 2019 our most recent tax year would have been 2018, and we've got that. But if we file in January 2020, would our most recent tax year be 2019 already, thus requiring the proper documentation for 2019 instead? I ask because the company my husband works for doesn't send out W2s until February, but we REALLY don't want to wait any longer to file our AOS because my I-94 had been expired since October 22nd. We've planned to file this December 16th but something came up, and we might have to reroute the budget for that one onto something else.... sigh (I know, I know, we're filing late, but life happens and so here we are...) 😅 So I'm thinking: 1) Perhaps USCIS would allow the submission of 2018 records due to the fact that tax season for 2019 won't be over until April 2020 anyways? 2) Perhaps we could include an explanation on our cover letter as to why we're submitting 2018 records despite 2019 ending? So yeah, I would appreciate any input from anyone who can help. Thank you all
  3. I'm filing to Remove Conditions on my Green Card, and planning on using the Divorce Waiver but I seem to be in a grey area as it pertains to filling out the I-751. The divorce is final on August 21st. My Green Card expires on Sept 9th. I want to have my ROC package in the mail by August 1st to make sure there's enough time before my Green Card expires for it to arrive and enter the system - I desperately do not want to accidentally be out of status because of a mailing issue. I have a judgement in hand stating that the divorce will be final on the above date; I live in California where there is a 6 month processing period for a divorce to be official from date of filing even if a judgement is reached before the 6 month wait is up. The I-785 seems to only have 2 options - file jointly as married, or file alone as divorced. Technically I'm still legally married until August 21st, though I'm filing alone due to divorce and have that judgement. In a divorce waiver case am I able to select "Divorced" as my marital status if I have the divorce judgement? It seems conflicting to select "Married" as present marital status, and then in the waiver section select "My marriage was entered in good faith, but the marriage was terminated through divorce." Thank you!
  4. My husband and I are both wondering what kinds of questions do they ask in the interview? We have our interview tomorrow in Portland, OR. Is it the standard "How did you two meet?", "How long have you been together?" etc. etc.
  5. Would you please take a moment to help us figure out a realistic timeline from sending K1 and receiving the NOA? Any help is very very much appreciated! We thank you, Lisa and Jon
  6. Hello, I am searching for my answer here but cannot find the exact question/answer in the forums: Was the form I-129F revised at some point in the past few years? I ask this because as I have mentioned I have had 2 K-1 visas approved (2009, she came here to US and we married but divorced in 2013, then 2014 however she never came here to US- Yes, I am aware of the multiple filer waiver) and the only questions asked regarding criminal records/conviction, arrests, charges, etc. had to do with violent / domestic violence crimes, human traffic involvement, substance abuse and things related but none of those applied to me and there was no question of other types of crimes. I see now that in Section 3- Lines 4a & 4b is asks if I have ever been arrested, convicted, charged, etc. of ANY type of crime at all anywhere at any time in my lifetime. I pleaded No Contest to doing construction work without a contractor's license many years ago and when I was about 19 years old (1979-80) I also pleaded No Contest to NSF checks (writing checks on an account where there re insufficient funds); I have been open about this any time i was asked. Can I just simply explain this on a separate sheet of paper? I hope I don't need to go to court to request documents or records; Also I have approximate dates, not exact dates. I do know these are not the types of offenses that will keep me from being approved. Did I miss this the first 2 times I filed and was still approved? I am sure they have all this info right there when they need it... Thanks!
  7. I got married to my husband in Dominican Republic, May 1st 2018. We filed for Petition I-130 on July 19th 2018, and we have yet to receive any notice apart from the receipt. I am now filing my taxes for 2018 and I'm not sure what to file, Married- filing separately or Married filing jointly? My accountant suggested for me to get a Passport certificate to obtain an identification number to file for my husband and I under Married filing jointly. Is this the best option? He currently is not working so he would not report any income.
  8. Hi, I am a US Citizen living abroad as a missionary. My wife is applying for citizenship under 319(b) of the INA. My questions are: 1) After research, we've decided we'd be best served to be interviewed and naturalized at the Fairfax, VA USCIS office. We've indicated this both on our cover letter as well as on the application itself. On my N-400 application, my mailing address is a Tennessee address (where my parents live). Will this present problems when my application is reviewed? Should I instead use an address of a friend in Virginia as my mailing address? 2) Because we want to be interviewed in VA, I am assuming I need to initially send our packet to the Lewisville ,TX location. Is this the correct place to file? I read somewhere that, in times past, there was one specific location (I think it was Phoenix) where all 319(b) cases were to be filed. Can someone confirm where we are to file our N-400 packet when filing under 319(b)? 3) Has anyone recently gone through this process? We're intending to file our application the first week of March. My wife is a month pregnant, so we're hoping that the interview will not be scheduled in the last trimester (where would mean about 5-6 months from the time of filing). Ideally, the interview would come closer to 9 months after the time of filing (a few weeks after the baby is here). Can anyone advise how long your process was with filing under 319(b)?
  9. Hey all; our approved I-129f petition was approved in December. The NVC then forwarded it to my embassy in London on January 22nd. They said it could take several weeks, and I’ve still heard nothing from them. (Apparently they’ll contact you when they’re ready to continue?) Our problem with this is that our petition expires in March and we haven’t the faintest idea when a medical, final interview, DS-160 and actual visa filing fees are gonna fit into that short time space. The embassy website is extremely unhelpful with their contact form (haven’t responded for weeks) and they, quote; “Don’t take phone calls”. Does anyone have any advice? It’s another weird roadblock where we’re sat doing nothing. We’ve gathered affidavit of support documents and scheduled shots, obtained medical records and the police certificate. I appreciate any help with this.
  10. Hi all, I am a K1 VISA beneficiary, I am now married, and I'm finally able to sit down and start the AoS application. I have read the guide on here, as well as the instructions on the I-485, I-131, and the I-765. In the beginning I thought I only had to file these three forms, and file them together. (with all of my evidence of course) I'm not always the best at filtering through the correct information but I do my best, but somehow I've now ended up with 7 different forms, and I was just wanting to check that I had it right, and that they were all necessary. My queries are with regards to the following forms: I-130 (Is this to be filed separately, or with the the I-485, I-131, and the I-765) I-130a (as above) I-693 (Does this go with the I-485 as "evidence", or does this get given at the interview?) My paranoia is usually fueled by how old the original posts are, and what updates are applicable etc. I'm almost confident I'm on the right path, I was just hoping for further clarification from anyone who has submitted these forms recently, and how the journey has been so far. Thanks all in advance.
  11. Hey guys, I have a situation with my father’s name, in my birth certificate his last name is different than it is on his ID (the way it’s on his ID is the way I wrote it on the I-129f) and the reason is because our name is supposed to be written Beard but instead they initially wrote it as bierd which is wrong so he updated it (to beard) on his ID and that the way it’s on every identification document he has, but I’m afraid that this could be a problem since the way it’s on his ID is not the same way it’s on my birth certificate and I tried to have this corrected and they said that they can’t update that unless I update my last name(the institution in charge of the birth certificate) which I can’t do because I’m in the middle of the K-1 process, so my question is could this be a problem? Could the consulate officer think that I tried to use false information? And also I have my fiancé’s phone number registered as “my wife” in my phone could this be a red flag if I bring screenshots to the interview with this name? @Greenbaum
  12. I was wondering if I can just include the first page of our joint bank statement or do I have to include the whole statement including expenses/deposits?
  13. Hi everyone, Just wondering if I need to notarize the photocopies of the documents needed. Things like our son's birth certificate, bank statements, tax return, etc.
  14. Hey everyone, K1 approved and Married 11/20/18 and his K1 visa is expired 12-12-18... Do we have to have all of the paperwork for AOS filled and sent in by then? Or is it more lenient because we are married now? Also do I the petitioner have to submit another affidavit of support for the AOS or can I just submit supporting financial documents? Did you make a nice binder/folder to make it presentable? Also the medical exam was sent from husbands country to the US embassy, is this something that is accessible on their end? THANKS everyone.
  15. My husband just filed our i-130 for our spousal visa! Very excited, just wanted to see if there are anyone else sending their i-130 this month. Would love to connect Best of luck to everyone!!
  16. We printed the letters and the i-129f form with sept as the date. We might send the packet next week or last week of oct. Are the dates on the forms and letters alright? Or we need to update it?
  17. Is it okay to use someone else’s card to file the i-129f packet? We will be using my brother’s credit card for filing. Wouldn’t that be a problem? Denial?
  18. I am confuse, does uscis accept credit card payment? I’ve read a blog regarding filing i-129f using credit card payment is not available because it will not be send to a lockbox facility. What are the lockbox facilities? Is the one in Dallas, Tx isn’t a lockbox facility? Please I need an answer. We will be filing on Oct 12 😢
