  1. I got married to my husband in Dominican Republic, May 1st 2018. We filed for Petition I-130 on July 19th 2018, and we have yet to receive any notice apart from the receipt. I am now filing my taxes for 2018 and I'm not sure what to file, Married- filing separately or Married filing jointly? My accountant suggested for me to get a Passport certificate to obtain an identification number to file for my husband and I under Married filing jointly. Is this the best option? He currently is not working so he would not report any income.

    I-130 Filers for Dominican Beneficiaries

Hello everyone, I decided to make this group based off of another member's suggestion and my experience here on visa journey. Of course, different beneficiary countries will have different experiences in obtaining the final visa, the interview process, the medical exam, fingerprinting, etc., etc. I also had a difficult time at first getting specific answers tailored to getting my Dominican spouse to the U.S. because of the diversity in countries on the I-130 Filer groups per month. So this group is to answer questions for those with Dominican beneficiaries. Please feel free to also add any recommendations, experiences, updates in regards to same. Thank you! and Good Luck to everyone

    K1 After NOA2 Dominican Republic.

Hello! K1 petition hoping to get NOA2 sometime next month (September), I've been trying to prepare for the next steps to make but the Dominican websites are very confusing so I have some doubts on what is supposed to happen post-NOA2 when you are dealing with the Dominican Republic. If someone who has already been through this could answer please! Im not going to bore you with a list of the steps I already know.. here is what I am not sure of: 1- after NVC assigns you a number and they forward your case to the embassy, do you submit the form DS-160? or you have to wait until you have an interview date? 2- do you get an assigned interview date and time or you choose it? 3- do you also have to make a separate appointment at the VAC for Biometrics? 4- This Famous Packet 4... Do I really need it? and what should I do if I don't ever receive it? 5- Do I have to send any documents to the NVC or the embassy prior to the interview? 6- my fiance is not planning on attending the interview at the embassy, is it really necessary for him to do so? he is a USC. 7- Is the Police Certificate the same as an: Acta de Buena conducta or Cartificado de No Antecedentes Judiciales?? Sorry for all the questions but I've ready many other posts and the wiki page and these items were a bit unclear for me. Thanks!

Paying Passport in the Dominican Republic

My husband will be applying for a passport for the first time next week as we wait for the NOA2. (I filed a petition for him back at the end of July/beginning on August). We are a bit confused as too how we pay for the passport. We are seeing that he has to pay it at BanReservas first and then show proof of payment. Also, we are going to pay the extra mil pesos to expedite it and get it the same day to save us trips. Can someone please clarify this BanReservas thing? Hopefully my question in clear, but if not kindly ask away. This is the link where I got my info from: https://www.pasaportes.gob.do/index.php/servicios-s/solicitudes-nuevas/item/233-solicitud-de-pasaporte-para-adultos-dominicanos-por-nacimiento Please and thank you.

  8. Finally sending aos packet in the morning, got held up because we had to search high and low for a co sponsor since the ones we had lined up weren't going to work out. So stressful! Anyways, I just wanted to know a few things 1) I'm using western union money orders, I've read in other topics these are ok but the ones I have only ask for my address and signature, not full name. This should be fine right? Also where in order of the forms do I attatch them? Do I put them in an envelope or just attach them to the i485? I put the cover later, then the pages basically explaining every I'm sending, then the i485 comes next. Should I attatch the money orders to the pages explaining what's in the packet? Do they pay attention to these things? 2) is there any specific thing we need to put on the return address on the envelope? I heard somewhere that you include the a-number next to the applicants name on the envelope. 3) I filled all the forms out by hand since I don't have a printer I had a friend of mine print them out for me. I heard people say not to leave any blanks but so many pages give the option to skip to another section. Do I still put something in the boxes I'm supposed to skip past? 4) not trying to think negative, but if for any reason the aos is denied are we allowed to try again or what happens? I have a good feeling about all of this but I'm so nervous I just hope I didn't make any mistakes
  9. Hi! I'm trying to gather documents for my Immediate Relative's interview and we are required to send photocopies of our birth certificates. So I have the original birth certificates that I obtained two years ago, but for some reason Dominican birth certificates expire after 6 months. Can I use the expired birth certificate to submit to NVC and then renew before the interview? or must I present the new birth certificate to NVC AND at the consulate?
