Hi, Our I-130 petition was recently approved on 4/18/23 and we got our welcome letter from the NVC on 4/25/23. I am a US citizen and my husband is a Canadian citizen living in Canada. I am filling out the I-1864 Affidavit of Support. I have a question about Part 6: Sponsor's Employment and Income. I am a full-time employee at a university working as a clinical counselor for the past three years. In January 2023, I also started a small private practice as a licensed mental health counselor. Would I also select #4 "Self Employed" even though it's only been 3-4 months of working a few hours a week? Would I be expected to provide proof of my self-employment even though I haven't filed taxes since I started in 2023? I want to make sure that I accurate in reported my employment. I do have the 2022 tax returns, but would not have any 1099 form for my private practice since I began the business this year. Thank you in advance for any feedback and insights!

Hello, we have submitted the CR1 to the USCIS this Sunday on May 29th 2022. We only now noticed that we did not photograph the back of my birth certificate. Because of that I wanted to ask if this could be a reason for the CR1 to be denied for us or to be sent back? Is there any way to submit it now so we don't have to wait 2 months to be potentially denied? Thank you!

Name changed in progress.
heartnmoroc posted a topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Hello Everyone I’m in the process of completing our cr1 visa application and I have my maiden name on the application. But I started to get my name change and so far I have an updated SSN with the married name only, soon will have an updated driver’s license but the passport will be later due to needed to travel overseas. My question is what do I do now with the application that is in progress, that is not filed yet. Should I put everything in the married name and explain I’m in the progress of changing my name in the additional information about me part. I am the petitioner. Thank you for any replies.- 3 replies

Hi there, My CR1 visa was approved in April but as I’m a teacher I wanted to wait until the end of the school year to fly to NYC so planning to fly on the 24th of July. It seems as though I may have secured a job to start at the end of August, but interviewed assuming that my Greencard would arrive soon after arrival. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to arrive? Is it true that I will not be able to start work until I receive it? Is there anything that I need to have with me aside from my passport with visa page? I know previously you needed to take an envelope with medical details but I think that has moved online now? Thank you, Caroline

I am sponsoring my husband from Dominican Republic. The only thing I have heard from uscis was the notification that they had received my paperwork on June 30th, 2020. I get emails from this site saying estimates that we could be approved around late May- late June. While that is extremely exciting if that’s true, my employer who is a lawyer looked into my case filing center and apparently they are still working on November 2019 cases ugh. I’m really wondering if there is any way to know or even estimate when we could be approved at this point. Or anything to do to speed things up? I know Covid made some major delays in their offices. Also for a household of 2, just my husband and I, how much money do I have to show that I make?
