I was trying to find information on how long it takes for the green card to be mailed to your US address after entry with a permanent resident visa. My husband has his interview in Costa Rica on August 9, 2022 and is planning on coming soon after if it all goes well. Anyone have similar experience and can tell me how long it took for the green card to arrive? Thanks!

Hi! I married a Costa Rican and we started our visa journey in August 2020. We had finally gotten all the docs sent and accepted in CEAC for the DS260 and I864, but as of today, March 18, 2022 it changed to incomplete for the civil documents. It says the passport, police report and photographs are missing, yet I submitted them in September 2021. They requested an additional document in December, which I submitted immediately. Any idea why they’re asking to send these documents again? Also, does this mean we are closer to the interview? A new section on CEAC popped up in the corner saying our interview location and priority date, but from my understanding, spousal visas aren’t limited, so we shouldn’t have to wait long for an interview. It’s been a long 19 months!

Hi all, I went through the process end to end with my wife some years ago but I haven't been following it closely much. I know somebody who will be sending his K-1 petition to the lockbox next week. The beneficiary is in Costa Rica. What kind of timeframe can they expect? I was watching one of those 90-day fiancee spinoffs in TLC and some "lawyer" told them 22-24 months. Can that be right? It used to be 6-9 months total. Thanks

Hi, I could use some help understanding whether we would be eligible for DCF and I-130. My wife is Vietnamese and I'm a U.S. citizen. We live together in Costa Rica for several months, I have a permanent residency here for years, and her application for residency is in progress, it should be approved early next year. We legally married in Panama last spring. I haven't been in the USA since December 2019. From what I understand, the normal CR-1 process would require me to be living in the USA for several months, without my wife. But we really don't want to be apart for several months. Can we qualify for DCF even though we don't have exceptional circumstances? Here on VisaJourney, the guide page says that if both spouses are living abroad, they should just DCF. But elsewhere it seems to indicate to use DCF only in special cases such as military situations, urgent need for medical treatment, a job start date, etc. We don't have any of those scenarios. If it would help, I could switch jobs and find a company that requires me to be in the USA, with a starting date 1 or 2 months out from now. That could qualify us for exceptional circumstances. But I'm hoping we can just file normally with DCF / I-130 and show intention to establish a domicile in USA, and that could be enough? I've read the info on USCIS (and this site) about DCF, and it's still not clear whether exceptional circumstances are an absolute requirement, or if any couple with residency abroad could qualify. I really hope there is a way to do this without being apart for months. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks! Jordan
