  1. I have had my flights from Phnom Penh to Houston, TX cancelled twice because of COVID-19. But the crazy part is when I look for another flight I still see the ones they cancelled as if those flights are still valid. Does anyone know for sure (like personally know someone) who has flown from Cambodia to the US? Because I see flights all day online but that does not mean people are actually flying here.
  2. I'm in a weird predicament, wondering if anyone else has ever used a Statutory Declaration in place of a Police Certificate when that certificate can NOT be produced? Situation: Myself (and fiancé) spent 7 months traveling together in Cambodia. We spent the majority of that time at one guesthouse in Sihanoukville without paying rent (owner is a friend) My understanding is that I need a police check from Cambodia because I was in the country for 6+ months. ----- However ---- To acquire a police certificate from Cambodia you have to appear in person at the Ministry of Justice in PP. To get the Police Cert. from them you have to provide a "Certificate of Residence" given to you by the Sangkat (community center). The Certificate of Residence can only be produced by giving the Sangkat a copy of your lease agreement. I did not ever hold a lease or pay rent in Cambodia so I can not get a Residence Certificate, Therefore, I also can not get a Police Certificate from the Ministry of Justice. I was a traveler, not a resident, despite the length of my stay. A lease can't be created retroactively, and I've read a lot of old forums on here where people described paying-off various officials to get it done - but the most recent one suggests that the Sangkat people no longer have the ability to "create" Residence Certificates when given tea-money, so that is also not an option. Long story short, I plan on drafting a Statutory Declaration and swearing an oath to the above, and that: Even if I fly to Cambodia (for $1500+) and negotiate with the MoJ (despite not being able to read/write/speak Khmer) that I can't make a Police Certificate appear because I'm unable to prove I ever held residence in Cambodia. Will the USCIS or DOS or the Consulate have any problem with this? I plan on attaching relevant documents supporting my claim, along with a sworn statement from the guesthouse owner stating that I didn't ever pay him for my stay. Thank you thank you thank you, the last thing I want is to find out at the last minute that they demand I fly to Cambodia to get this paperwork, even though I know that it's not possible for me to get it.
  3. Hi, I'm very new here and need some clarification on this. I received an email w/ an attached letter from NVC about 2 weeks ago stating our petition is being forward to U.S. Embassy in Cambodia and it may take several weeks. I was told to wait to hear from the U.S. Embassy first before doing anything at all and others have told me I can continue w/ the process of completing the DS-160, pay the visa fee, schedule an interview appointment online and everything else that we need during the interview. I'm confused by what we actually need to do now, but my fiancé has already completed the DS-160 online and have the confirmation page. He has also registered on the cgifederal website and printed out the deposit slip for the visa fee. So my question is, do we go ahead pay the visa fee and schedule an appointment online OR don't do anything else beyond what my fiancé has already done until we hear from U.S. Embassy in Cambodia? I've been getting conflicting information regarding this and your prompt response would be appreciated to clarify this for us. Thank you in advance!
  4. My fiance's application was recently mailed from the NVC to the embassy in Phnom Penh. I only received an email notifying me of this. I have not received any letters in the mail stating the next steps. My fiance is from Cambodia where mail is not easy to deliver. Should we complete the DS-160 now or wait for the Embassy to send us some information? Does anyone have any experience with the embassy in Phnom Penh?
  5. Okay, I need advice. My fiancé and I have known each other for 2+ years and we’ve been dating since March 2018. We live in Cambodia together and I’ve been here since September 2016 (that’s when I met him.) We were working at the same school here. Well he proposed to me in June and I accepted but we didn’t tell anyone about the proposal because we had only been dating for a few months. Then in August, we got pregnant. I’m now 16 weeks. He proposed again in November and that’s when we made the engagement public. Well I want to have the baby in the US. I plan to go in mid March and return to Cambodia in mid July with my child. But I want my fiancé to come with me for the birth of the child. We want to apply for a tourist visa so he can come with me for four months, and then we will return together. The difficult part is proving that we intend to return. I have a contract from my school, we will have return plane tickets, but he is a self employed tuk tuk driver and doesn’t have any savings. My parents will be paying for our trip. I’ve also applied for a fiancé visa for another Cambodian man in 2017, but we ended that relationship and I withdre my application for his visa. I’m worried all these things will affect us. Any advice or wisdom??
