Hi all! I'm from Hong Kong and I had a B1/2 visa interview in May 2022. However, I was quickly denied under Section 214(B) after being asked a few questions by the officer. At the time, I thought that if I reapplied, my application would be accepted (I didn't do enough research), so I reapplied in August. Unfortunately, I was rejected again for the same reason. During the interview, the officer asked me several questions: 1. "What is your occupation?" I was an office clerk and had been working at my company for 8 months. 2. "How long do you plan to stay in the US?" I think I answered 1 month or 3 weeks. Perhaps they thought I couldn't afford a 1 month trip in the US? 3. "Who will be joining you on the trip?" I said I was going with my boyfriend and I think they asked if he had a visa. I forgot my answer. I also told them my friend from Canada will be joining. Is it a wrong move? 4. "Is your family currently in Hong Kong and do you live with them?" My family is in Hong Kong and I don't have any relatives in the US. I was living with my boyfriend, but I'm not sure if this is a problem for them. 5. "Who will pay for your trip?" I told them that my boyfriend and I would pay for it. Since the interview, my situation has changed: I'm no longer living with my boyfriend (we broke up) and I've moved back home with my family. I've also started working at a new company. I have a few questions: - Is it harder for a single female in her 30s to get a tourist visa? - Would it increase my chances of getting a visa if I travel to different countries and return before I apply for another interview? I've traveled to some countries in Asia (Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, and India) before COVID. I'm thinking that traveling to countries like Canada might be more persuasive. - The house that my family bought is under their name, but I'm also listed as an owner. Can I use it as a real estate tie?

B1/B2 Visa and then J-1 Visa allowed?
aventura900 posted a topic in Student & Exchange Visitor Visas
Hi there: I'm curious if it's okay to get a B1/B2 visa, live in the U.S. for 4 months (not working), and then apply for a J-1 or H1B Cap-Exempt visa through an academic institution. Would this cause any problems or raise any red flags? Thank you so much. -
Hello, I have enter USA on tourist visa (B1\B2) in 2014 (Valid till 2024) and did status change to student visa (F1) got approved (No stamp on passport) inland I was in USA till 2018 on Student visa (F1). Then I moved to Canada (in 2018) got married to Canadian citizen. Currently having Indian citizenship and Canadian PR. The question is these November 2022 my wife's cousin getting married in USA and they have invited us for wedding can I still re enter USA on tourist visa (B1\B2 as its valid till 2024) or I need to re apply for new tourist visa because of change of status inland to student (F1) and not having stamp on passport before leaving USA? If yes tourist visa (B1\B2) stamped on passport still valid, Speaking practically will the immigration officer will let me enter the USA or not as I previously enter USA on same status (B2) and change of mind to student (F1) he/she can deport me and bard me from re entering? (I will have my wife (Canadian citizen) traveling with me and will have return ticket for both of us) Thank you.
