  1. Hi guys, I am trying to get a good idea of who has already been scheduled for ghana for family based (no K-1 please) visa recently? Please reply and if you can, please let me know the Case Completion Date and the Visa Interview Date as well. Thank you all.
  2. Us citizen mom petitioning for children 14 years (15 by the time of the interview) and 18 year old sons. What kind of questions will they ask at the interview? Children are in Ghana
  3. Hi I got an email for DNA appointment for son in Ghana and it says For beneficiaries (children) under age 18, a signed notarized letter or Power of Attorney from the petitioner in the US, giving the local guardian (even the mother) authority to sign documents on behalf of the individual providing the sample. I already email them the notarized letter for his guardian in Ghana but what kind of documents are they having her sign on his behalf? Does anyone have any experience as to what actually happens at the collection? Can we bring an interpreter as guardian does not speak english?
  4. I want to thank all of you here on VJ for all the great advice and encouragement over these past few years. My husband's IR1 visa was approved today, thank God very much. Luckily, he was asked only a few basic questions. The officer had taken all of his evidence, looked it over, then called him to the window. There he was just asked if his case was a reaffirmed one, how many children he has and if his child will immigrate with him. That was it. The embassy personnel then gave him the long awaited blue slip of paper instructing him to pick up his visa in 2 weeks. It has been such a long and stressful journey and I wanted to share our success to give others hope.

Approved!!! My husband arrived at his interview at 7:30am and was called in. He went through the strandard processing befire he was called in by an Adjudicator, he asked him 4 questions regarding my workplace, if I was married before, which city I live in and if he was previously married. He answered all if the questions correctly. He said the Ajudicator was very polite and professional. He was unable to approve him that day because my husband needed to update his pok8ce certificate and also his medical was not in. My husband had to wait an additional week to pick up the medical report and recieve his second immunization. The adjudicator provided him with the DHL information to submit his medial report and police certificate. He submitted the information on 1/29/18, his status changed to Administrative review ( after the interview). His status was updated to issued on 2/5/2018. We are waiting to get the message to come and pick up his passport. Alhamdullilah, for everything.
  6. Hello All, I spoke with the NVC office today and they said our package was sent to the embassy in Accra, Ghana on January 26th. Neither I nor my beneficiary have heard anything yet. I've heard that many people never get anything from the embassy and so it's important to take matters into your own hands and do what is needed. My understanding is that the first thing to do is pay the interview fee at GT Bank. Does that sound right? If so, does he just walk into any GT Bank and tell them he wants to pay the fee for a visa interview at the U.S. Embassy? Can we find out the fee amount before going to the bank? Also, if anyone could lay out the process in a step-by-step way as best they understand it, that would really be appreciated. Thank you as always for any help you can provide.

Hellooo ... Does anybody know if the US embassy in Accra (Ghana) allows the petitioner to accompany the beneficiary to the interview. Any help? ( Especially those who did theirs in Accra) (Ghana) . I've heard some embassies do allow the petitioner to the interview, whiles others don't allow.thank you.
  8. 8/1/17 - Received the email below: Case records indicate a call-in letter was mailed to the Applicant on 27-JUL-2017. Consular Section U.S. Embassy – Accra, Ghana I have been emailing asking if an electronic copy can be sent to me, the petitioner because of the sub-par postal mail system in Ghana. After 10 days with no response, they finally responded. 8/10/17 - Received the email below: The overwhelming majority of our applicants do receive their call in letters. If Applicants do not receive their call-in letters within 1 month of mailing, they are advised to email us and we will give them instructions on how to retrieve it person. We do not email call-in letters. Consular Section U.S. Embassy – Accra, Ghana So since I will not be receiving an electronic copy of the letter, here are my questions: What is a call in letter? What does it mean? What do they typically say? Is this something thats different per case or everyone's letter is the same? Per VG, no one ever actually receives this letter OR they receive it long after they have already interviewed. In this case I've read that we are to print the email chain between embassy and I and the CEAC case status update and just go to embassy and pick up the packet. My fear is that those effort will be in vain since we dont have the letter. Is there a specific day of the week and time where they allow us to pick up these packets? Is there a cost associated with picking this up? Does this mean my husband has an interview date? Can anyone shine any light on this "call in letter" process?
